Re: [slim] What's your favorite device for remotely controlling your Squeezebox?

My HTC Desire:
SqueezeCommander as remote,
Squeezeplayer for streaming away from home.

100% good!

Re: [slim] Certain artists not appearing in Slimserver library with itunes...

2007-04-24 Thread MatsLarsson

The main problem with tags is that mp3's often contain *both* ID3v1 and
ID3v2 tags, and that the two sets might contain different data.
Applications tend to treat these differences in different ways, that's
why files that show up okay is iTunes may look bad in SlimServer.
Furthermore, different SlimServer builds treat tagging issues
differently, that's why sort orders and other things can change after
an upgrade.

There's no reason to keep two ID3 versions in your files, so the best
approach is to remove all your ID3v1 tags (while making sure that the
ID3v2 tags are good). This is the essence of the *'Mp3tagGuide'
(http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?Mp3tagGuide)* instructions. Give
it a shot before looking elsewhere for solutions!

2007-04-23 Thread MatsLarsson

This is most likely a tagging problem. Use the 'Mp3tagGuide'
(http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?Mp3tagGuide) to weed out those
ID3v1 tags that probably causes this. /Mats

The whole point of browsing by cover art would be seeing the covers,
right? There are a number of utilities that automatically download,
rename and save cover art. It won't catch them all, but when you have
2200 covers, you might want to manually chase down the rest. Or write
that plugin.

Re: [slim] Clearing the DB

2007-02-02 Thread MatsLarsson

There is always the possibility to point the SS to an empty folder, and
then do a full rescan. That would produce an empty library.

[slim] Re: Ethical question - stolen CDs & backups......

2006-10-24 Thread MatsLarsson

As far as ethics are concerned - stealing someone's CD's is a rather
unethical thing to do! If someone stole my CD's, I would still consider
myself the legal owner, and happily play my backup copies in whatever
form I have them. The record industry have a different view, but
frankly I couldn't care less. /Mats
