Re: [slim] 64bit Raspberry Pi
I am running Xemoa on a RPi4 with 8GB of RAM. There is a significant difference in performance between the 32 and 64 bit versions of Raspbian Raspberry PiOS. You definitely want to consider using the 64 bit version if you can. Tim On 2/2/22 3:51 AM, Man in a van wrote: I have been running the beta Desktop for a few months now. Re: [slim] Sonos-Google lawsuit
If there is Prior Art that shows that someone came up with the idea before Sonos registered for the patent, the patent would not be considered novel and therefore not valid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prior_art Keep in mind, folks are awarded patents all the time where there is prior art. Patent reviewers typically can't find every nook and cranny to determine if a patent should be awarded. Slim devices was sold in late 2006, so it would have been good for Slim Devices to have challenged this particularly if there was question about a patent by a competitor that could affect the value of the company when selling it to Logitech. If they didn't patent it, though (and I can't find anything assigned to Logitech that indicates they did), it's a moot point. piTouch™ w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115721 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Family now hate the Jogglers.
I looked at the Jogglers and found this page... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O2_Joggler This looks almost exactly like a Raspberry Pi with the standard 7" touch screen. I have put boxes like this together and run PiCore. You can see my post about that construction at: https://blog.lns.com/?p=151 Tim On 5/27/21 3:46 PM, Gingermagic wrote: Around Chirstmas time, I bought 2 Jogglers. After initial learning curve, I got them both set up well and the family were enjoying them. Things have declined since then. :-( No one touchest them any more because they are both so unreliable. Sometimes the display is just very unresponsive. Sometimes connecting to the server is irratic. Often, the jogglers will just crash. Sometimes with a frozen screen, but most often back to the command prompt. They are both running Ubuntu 18.04.4 with nothing installed except Squeezeplay (https://birdslikewires.net/debian-for-openframe). The OS is running from a mini USB stick on both Jogglers. I have tried different USB sticks, so I don't think that there's a problem there. When playing music, they seem to crash every few minutes. Maybe between 5 and 30 minutes sessions. The Joggler seems to get fairly warm, but not what you'd describe as 'hot'. Is there anything I can do, or is it just the sign of ageing tech that needs to be retired? I've heard Jivelite recommended, but a quick attempt with that left the device seemingly unable to find the server. I'm not sure if there are settings that need to be changed somewhere to sort that. Do any of you have any suggestions?
