Re: [slim] LMS Documenter Part II
I tried the last two versions of the tool (dated 2020-07-17 and 2020-07-19). Documentor finds my LMS server and shows the number of artists (22010), albums (5111) and songs (80286). I can also hear the hard drives of the LMS server working heavily for several minutes. But suddenly Documentor simply dies quietly - no error messages. All tests were done on my main PC. Today I tried Documentor on my laptop, but after 30-45 minutes Documentor vanishes in the same way as on my main PC. I do not know if my LMS server (Synology DiskStation DS213+) is too weak to respond in a reasonable time for Documentor. I have a Raspberry Pi 3b lying around which I could configure to run LMS (with the music still on the DS213). Maybe this will work better. Using Opera (my favourite web browser), the icons on the left are bouncing around with nearly every click I make: 13311 This does not only look strange but it makes it difficult to navigate, too, as the lines are also jumping a little bit up or down when I click on a forum title - which often leads to the necessity to click a forum title a second time, because the first click made it jump out of the hot spot of the mouse pointer. Generally I think the icons are a little bit too big respectively too eye-catching. +---+ |Filename: Squeezebox Forum 2 b.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13311| +---+ carp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3584 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94513 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Slightly OT: Stylesheet
My favourite web browser is Opera 10.10 which I use when visiting this forum. However, I have a small problem when a post contains pictures: Sometimes they are too wide to fit in the Opera window, and Opera refuses to show a horizontal scrollbar especially in this forum (see attached screenshot). A user in an Opera related forum guessed that I should ask for an amendment in the stylesheet that this (Squeezebox) forum uses: the line *display:block* will fix the problem with big pictures. Re: [slim] Slightly OT: Stylesheet
It is better in a sense that Opera now displays a horizontal scrollbar. The user in the Opera related forum made another suggestion - create a css file, containing the line *img.attach {display: block;}* and use this in the site specific settings for this forum. This works, too - the pictures in the thread I mentioned are then positioned on top of each other instead of side by side - but this is only a single user solution as each Opera user would have to made this change. -- carp Carsten carp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3584 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75382 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Setting static IP address for Squeezeserver
Kyle;401925 Wrote: OK, I tried this, using the DNS servers in your post. I could access the internet, but my music would not play. I could access the server, and everything looked fine. You should set the DNS address of your desktop to the address of your router. IMHO in most cases the router gets the address(es) of internet DNS server(s) when it establishes a connection to the internet/your internet provider. This way it is able to translate names to IP addresses. In your LAN, the router acts as a local DNS to translate the names of your LAN devices to (local) IP addresses, so your LAN devices can talk with each other. If the router cannot find a name in your LAN (i.e. you typed a www address into the address line of your web browser), it asks the internet DNS server to translate this name to an IP address. In short: The DNS of your router is needed on the one hand to allow your local devices to find each other and on the other hand to let you find other systems in the internet. So IMHO it is reasonable to set the DNS server address of your local devices to the address of your router. -- carp Carsten carp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3584 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60727 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Max. titles per album - is there a limit?
A compilation I recently copied to Slimserver consists of 500 songs (all in FLAC format) which all belong to one album. I used foobar2000 to set the ALBUM tag of all songs to the same album name. Once foobar2000 was done, I initiated a rescan of the music library, choosing Clear library and rescan everything to be on the safe side. After the rescan, Slimserver displayed two new albums - one with the album name and 499 songs, another one with the directory name and 1 song. Slimserver's song info of this one song is also not correct (Title contains the file name without the extension, Artist is the main directory name, Album is the name of the directory which contains all 500 songs), while foobar2000 (and The Godfather, too) shows the correct tags. Is there a limit on how many songs can be within one album? I changed title and artist of that single track, saved the file and achieved the command line you wrote. [slim] Re: Wanted: New Hardware - Squeezebox Portable
My wish is a really slim Squeezebox: - small - (W)LAN - synchronisable (automatically) with an already running Squeezebox - no display This would let me hear the same music in every room I want as I already have a stereo in the workroom, bedroom and kitchen. I could simply connect this little Squeezybox to any of the stereos as an additional source of music. IMHO A display is not necessary in this case. Of course, this could be on the lower end in price (in contrast to the Transporter which is a great product, too, but is not geared to me). -- carp Carsten carp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3584 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27378 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
