[slim] Tidal Buffering Issue

2019-03-30 Thread doctor_big

Hey all,

It's been a smooth year for me and my Squeezeboxen, but I'm experiencing
a problem now that I can't debug - thought I'd ask the community for
assistance.

Like it says in the title, Tidal, using the Tidal v1.2 plugin buffers.
Not all the time, but more often than not. Once it starts, nothing I can
do will resolve it. I have no issues streaming local music, nor do I
have an issue with Radio Paradise streaming FLAC files via the RP
plugin.. Further, Tidal streaming directly to my laptop on the same
network has no issues.

I'm running LMS 7.9.0 - 1488878280 on a WHS v1 machine. Taskmgr shows
no overt load, nor any more than .0.% networking activity.

I'm streaming to a SB Touch that's connected via ethernet powerline
adapter.

Any thoughts?

TIA all!

Linux via ubuntu works great on a lenovo laptop - a nice, trim, lean

Re: [slim] What are your long-term SqueezeBox solutions?

2018-09-07 Thread doctor_big

I keep finding new things to amaze me with LMS.

- running EDO into my new Hegel integrated, I found that the "next
track" button on the Hegel remote moves the music ahead to the next
song. I didn't expect that to integrate.

- signed up for Tidal, and in combination with Don't Stop The Music /
LastMix, I'm delighted with the coherent playlist choices.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this ecosystem.

[slim] Remote access via my Android phone - How?

Would it be possible for someone to walk me through how I can stream

address, so that might be a challenge. But beyond that, what settings
do I have to enable on my router, and how do I set up my phone so that I
can both use it as a remote at home, and a client when on the go?

Thanks, in advance,

First of all: LMS will not use 2GB just because of this setting. It will
use what it needs. I don't know your collection, but with my 20k tracks
it would use around 100MB after the start. Did you check what task is
using all the memory, and if it's really swapping you're experiencing?

Is there a file anywhere that I can manually edit and flip this

Yes, edit server.prefs and remove the dbhighmem (or similar) value.

Sorry - got a little panicked there. My 110k tracks used 200,000kb,
which is .2GB. My system locked up with no memory left, which is why I
thought it was 2GB. Anyway, it's enough to push my box over the edge to
autism.

I deleted the entire squeezebox directory and reinstalled, and now it's
good. I think I'll look at adding another stick of memory if my WHS 1.0
box will support it.

My server's working great! Let's change something! Sigh.

Hi there,

I've recently started using this app, and it looks great. The only
issue is that it seems to be re-downloading the art cache each time I go

Anyway, when I scroll through my library it takes a long while for the

[slim] Transporter won't connect

2011-01-03 Thread doctor_big

Hey there,

I'm trying to diagnose an issue with a Slim Devices Transporter. Every
once in a while this unit loses connection with the server. When this
happens, the unit goes dark and won't fire up with the power button (at
least, I think it's loss of connection that starts this trouble, but I
can't be sure).

When I unplug it and plug it back in, it goes through the welcome
screen and then almost immediately displays a message that it's
obtaining an IP address. This message stays up for about 5 seconds and
then the unit goes dark again. I'm never asked to choose the country or
network.

It takes much fussing and fidgeting, both with rebooting the server and
the wireless router, and then rebooting the Transporter. After a number
of attempts it'll fire up act like it's lost its memory. I can then
re-enter my wireless key and it'll work.

The wireless signal is marginal as the Transporter is a fair distance
from the router. Could this be the issue? Once it's connected it's
generally good for at least a few days, up to a week.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jason
