[slim] Player Freezing SBS Issues?
Hello folks, Hoping someone might be able to shed a little light on a problem I'm having. I use a Squeezebox classic in my bedroom. I've noticed in the last month or two when I go to bed and try and put on some music that the response is usually terribly slow. I launch IPeng and it sees the Player (most of the time), but when I try to select some music things fall apart: Ipeng takes an incredibly long time to display an album or artist list, or when i'm viewing by music folder, a directory. Eventually, if i'm patient enough, I'll be able to hit Add or Play, but even after doing that, it can take up to several minutes to add or play. During this time, the player itself seems to be frozen. I cannot use the regular remote to navigate -- it stays stuck on whatever screen it was on. During troubleshooting, when I experienced the problem I went over to the PC running SBS and tried to add or play a file from there. When I would try to hit up the web interface, I noticed that it took several minutes to load -- Firefox showed loading 127.0.0.1... I've experience the problem on both an iMac running Snow Leopard and a PC running Windows 7 (64 bit). I'm running 7.4.2 - r30215. I never used to have this problem going back several years. I have no idea whats going on here! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76732 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Hi-res support
So I've exhausted my limited amount of patience waiting for the Touch and am wondering what my options are for getting 24/96 support in conjunction with SBS. I'm not interested in spending $1500+ on a transporter so I'm looking to the software solutions. Will either Squeezeslave or Squeezeplay output bit perfect data? Will either play high-res material? I have a growing number of 24/88.2k and 24/96k files I want to play. I'd like an easy to use solution (I'm not a linux guy and hacking around with Alsa drivers last night with Vortexbox was enough to make me reconsider that approach). I'd like to build a small PC and stick a RME card in it and output via it's SPDIF port to my Grace DAC. I'll control everything with iPeng so I don't need a local display - This which would suggest SqueezeSlave, but I'm not sure how mature it is or how it will be supported going forward. Any comments or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks kindly. -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75397 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Hi-res support
Maybe I'll give it another shot. I spend a couple hours last night and couldn't get it to work with my RME card. -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75397 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Hi-res support
Andrew, It actually had nothing to do with Vortexbox. Infact, I love the concept. It was my lack of linux skills that was the hurdle. I couldn't get any pci card (I also tried an Echo Audio card) to be seen by Vortexbox. Any suggestions would be helpful as I really would love to use it. -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75397 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Hi-res support
On the Configure Vortexbox Player page, I only see my motherboard's onboard audio (regular and HDMI in my case). The RME or Echo cards never show up in the ALSA device list Is there another place I should be looking? -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75397 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] More Cover Art weirdness
I rip cd's to individual folders and then I place a cover.jpg in each folder -- had been going OK, but I am now experiencing an issue where slimserver is not reading the cover.jpg out of the albums folder, but instead, its reading a cover.jpg from ANOTHER album. I have performed many clear and rescan yet it doesn't seem to be helping. I should mention that the cd's that exhibit this problem are of the same work. Ie. 2 different versions of Durufle's Requiem. That being said, I have other versions of this work in the system without issue. Help? [slim] Re: More Cover Art weirdness
Bingo! That was it. I do find that I have to clear the Firefox Cache after every new entry is added. bummer. Thanks though! [slim] Re: Browse by custom tag ?
I'm wondering if a solution has developed for this? I am starting to rip my cd's into single flac files with external cue sheets and *for me*, an ideal solution to the whole classical tagging issue would simply be to allow me to add some additional tags to the cue sheet and have the ability to search within slim server. I know some people won't agree, but I'd gladly fund a the development of a plugin (similar to idea #2 above) -- the way I see it, it would provide the freedom to add all the information I want. So, anyone up to the task? -- durufle durufle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28399 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
