Re: [slim] iPeng on iPad - How should it look like?

2010-05-12 Thread el payo

Hey Pippin,

When (and if) you need any iPad beta testers sign me up. I'm currently
using iPeng at 2x and it's nice - though I sometimes just use the web
interface.

On that note (using the web interface on iPad): I wish Logitech would
add an apple-touch-icon.png to the server so the icon on the iPad
looked a bit more Squeezboxish.

When adding Squeezebox to the home screen, by default the iPhone/iPad
create an icon that is really just a mini view of the open window in

Apple has a specification for servers/web pages to specify a default
icon for Mobile Safari to generate for the home screen:

[slim] Mac OS X nightlies for 7.0a1 incomplete since May 8

2007-05-11 Thread el payo

Just a quick heads up that the nightly builds of SlimServer 7.0a1 have
been compiling or uploading improperly. The last working build was from
May 8 - since then the files have been approximately 500K, where they
should be 23MB.

The .dmg mounts and contains the SlimServer Installer, but there are no
files in the Install Files folder.

The buildlog.mac file shows a BUILD FAILED message early in its
process.

VPC sucks. Windows runs so slowly that it would be easier to draw a
picture of the album cover and guess the track listing. Plus I'm not
sure it's even compatible with Intel Macs.

I haven't tried Moose using Parallels but it should work just fine. And
of course with Boot Camp, a Mac is a full Windows PC so Moose would
operate just as you've designed it to. But why would I want to boot
into Windows? :P

One of these days I'll fire up xCode and attempt to create a proper Mac
app along the lines of Moose (first I'll have to learn how to actually
program.)

OK, so the problem seems to be this. With SlimServer installed for
single user in OSX, the Scrobbler plug-in is looking in the wrong

I should mention that as a result of this error log I compiled
Math::Round via CPAN - doing this got through the error at line 52, but
gave me a new error at line 57 in the Scrobbler plug-in, that's when I
just decided to move SlimScrobbleSupport and Scrobbler.pm into the
SlimServer.prefpane itself.

I have to manually move these two files into the prefpane each time I
update to the newest nightly.

Tracking down this error also allowed me to solve a problem I was
having with th iTunes Update plugin. Again I needed to move the plugin
directly into the SlimServer.prefpane -- Either I have a seriously
messed up PATH file or this is a common problem across a number of
plugins.

Yes, I am have the current CVS version of SlimScrobbler. The LastFM
plugin is installed and working fine - is SlimScrobbler even necessary
if I'm using LastFM?

Yeah, they do different things: the LastFM plugins plays LastFM
stations. The SlimScrobbler plugin reports your liistening habits.

I figured that was the case. The LastFM plugin reports what it has
played back to the Audio Scrobbler database at LastFM, so I was hoping
it might report everything.

As it stands, using the current (.34) CVS version of SlimScrobbler is
simply not happening for me. And even with the debug flag on I get no
reports of it attempting to load.

Does SlimScrobbler have different perl dependencies than LastFM
plugin?

Anyone else on OSX 10.4.2 running the nightly build with SlimScrobbler
working?

Is anyone able to use the SlimScrobbler plug-in with
  the 6.2 builds? I can't configure the plug-in through
the web interface as the authors describe. Is there an
alternate way to do this by editing the .pm file?

Make sure you are using the latest plugin from
 slimscrobbler.sourceforge.net
Mine didn't work either when I upgraded to 6.2 until I upgraded the
 plugin.

I'm using the latest plug-in. No joy for me. I'm on OSX 10.4.2 - though
I doubt platform is an issue.

I am using the sourceforge latest build of the plug-in. The plug-in
does not appear in the plug-ins list in the web interface of Slim
Server, I'll have to take a look at the log and see if it's loading.
