Re: [slim] Anyone have over 100,000 tracks in their library?
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to try the new settings with ipeng today. Does the duet controller also use a cache? It seems to take just as long each time I try and access a large genre even if I just had it loaded. It isn't very useful to us at the present time. I tried to use the embedded squeezeserver beta, but every time I tried a version, it wouldn't find my library, so I went back to the production version. I even pointed it to the correct directories in the add-in settings, and it would conduct a scan and not find anything. It sounds like that is the only hope for a significant performance enhancement. I am testing the system on one receiver right now for a house that we are building and moving into in a few months. I hope to have 6-8 receivers hardwired into my network if I can get some decent performance. Pippin, my wife downloaded ipeng the other day and was able to successfully use it without any instructions. That says a lot about the functionality you have put into the app. Thanks for creating it. -- longhornalum longhornalum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36478 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75205 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Anyone have over 100,000 tracks in their library?
So it's probably windows home server that is slowing everything down. Those of you with the large libraries, does ipeng and the controller respond almost instantaneously or is there a delay when searching through genres or other categories? If there is a delay, how long? Anyone using a Windows box with a large library? Any advice for enhancing performance? Do you use more genres to create smaller groups? Thanks again! -- longhornalum longhornalum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36478 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75205 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Anyone have over 100,000 tracks in their library?
I recently bought an HP EX485 MediaSmart server mainly to run squeezebox server for a squeezebox duet. After the EX485 took 3-4 days to simply create the library and index the mp3's, I realized that the server was not going to be able to handle a large library. I upgraded the server processor from a single core 2 ghz celeron to a dual core 2.8 ghz E6300 pentium processor. My server and my squeezebox receiver are hardwired into my uverse router, and I can get decent performance if I access my library from a browser. However, if I use the duet controller or ipeng, the connection can take minutes to list the files or time out when I try and access certain genres or categories. I am a little disappointed that I am having so much trouble just trying to stream to a single squeezebox receiver. My real question is how much hardware is needed to run squeezebox server reliably and be able to stream to multiple receivers with a library of 100,000 mp3's? Does anyone with a large collection have any advice on getting better performance from my library or at least the wireless controllers?
