If I disconnect the power from all my players it will sleep. If I have a

[slim] Windows sleep while LMS is running -- let's save some electricity!

2022-03-15 Thread mandryka

If you search you can see that loads of people have reported that their
PC won't sleep when LMS is running on a squeezebox or a RPi. No
solutions as far as I can see.

Surely this would be a good problem to fix now -- rising energy costs
etc.

Anyway, if you have a solution, please say.

Let's get clear about this.

I have LMS on a PC, where my music is stored. That's fine.

I have piCorePlayer OS on a SD card in a Pi3 which is being used to
stream my music. That is annoyingly slow.

You've hit the nail on the head. The problem is there with Qobuz files,
not with my own files.

The artwork sometimes shows when a track is being played, sometimes not.
It seems to depend how far down the playlist the track is.

Squeezepad with the default UI when you download it on an iPad. They are
my own playlists. This is what I’m seeing on the squeezepad - it looks
like this time it’s downloaded the first 100 or so images, normally much
less than that.

[slim] Can I get album images in large playlists?

2020-11-02 Thread mandryka

I have many very large playlists (more than 100, more than 200 tracks
even), I manage them normally with squeezepad on an iPad. They may
include all new releases which interest me in a certain month - so they
may be made of of half a dozen or more albums.

My problem is that except for the first few tracks I don’t see the album
image in the playlist. This is a serious problem because the list is
made up of many albums and it’s often impossible to tell which album
from the information you do see.

Is there a solution?

Sorted with a new Pi -- except that the hifiberry DAC isn't held
securely in place because I've lost one of the little little washers.
Bugger. I hate the assembly side of this, the boxes etc.

(Hence my interest in external links to DACs above)

Just a note to say that this didn't work for me because it doesn't have

Yes done that, and I’ve rewritten to the card. It would be annoying if
it was just the card, but it could be. The problem’s been around for a

[slim] Can I make YouTube stream at 16/44?

2020-05-02 Thread mandryka

Their streams are, I guess, at a higher resolution, and one of my best
DACs cant handle it.

Is there a solution other than buying another DAC?

Squeezecontrol no longer works on Windows 10. The loopback manager
doesn't help. Microsoft have refunded the purchase.

Yes, in fact it won't do what I want. I want to be able to enter some
search text and then search in my music, and my apps -- qobuz, youtube,
spotify etc. Squeezelite 10 is no better than opening a window with the
LMS address.

And anyway, it keeps crashing on me.

Oh yes, I have it. As far as I can see it won't allow me to control
different players, it just makes my PC into a player (which is very
useful, I use it all the time.)

Qobuz goodies in Squeezepad on IOS 13 - the windows too small!

2019-11-10 Thread mandryka

Using IOS 13.1.3 with the Qobuz app in Squeezepad.

Something really annoying has started to happen. If I go to “Qobuz
goodies” to read the booklet associated with the recording, instead of
opening a full sized safari window, it opens a window inside Squeezepad,
which is too small.

Is there anything I can do to get a bigger window with the booklet,
apart from copying and pasting the url, or going to the Qobuz app?

[slim] How do you backup playlists?

2019-09-21 Thread mandryka

My playlists are stored in -C:\Users\User\Music\Playlists- which was
chosen by the system on installation of LMS. There are a bunch of m3u
and opml files in there, I can't do anything with them.

I can't add- C:\Users\User\Music\Playlists- to the routine backup of my
hard drive with syncback as I can only back up one folder per task. So
I'd have to have a separate backup task for playlists, which isn't
ideal.

I have an external backup with backblaze, but this won't help because
they won't make a backup from my main system hard drive.

Any suggestions?

I'm going to add something which is going to contribute nothing to
anything except antagonism and confusion.

While the pi was out of order I was using a Squeezebox classic, digital
optical output going into an external DAC. I'm now back to the pi with a
hifiberry, optical output into the same dac and speakers and amp. And
you know what? . . .

. . . I think the berry sounds better! Maybe it's just the relief of
having it working again which has put me in a positive frame of mind
about it.

Yes I was just about to post here and say that I'd done that and it is
now working as well as before. Thanks for all your input, everyone.

Two questions.

1. Are some SD cards less reliable than others? I wonder if mine failed
because I have a bad quality card.

2. This relates to this post

No green light. I was wondering about that. I do have an amber light if
I insert an ethernet cable, no light at all if I don't.

I don't know how to find the IP address of the Pi.

I have used two power supplies so that's not likely to be the problem.

I have restarted LMS

The problem occurred after the pi was briefly disconnected from the
mains (i.e. I moved it)

The LMS just doesn't list the pi as a player.

[slim] How do you control volume?

2019-03-05 Thread mandryka

My biggest problems come with Windows and Android. If I use my Desktop
PC I just use the bog standard LMS interface and that seems to let me
control in large increments, 10% maybe. I sometimes use Orange Squeeze

Is there a better way?

[slim] BT Hub stopping my ipad accessing LMS

2018-09-06 Thread mandryka

Hello

I control my music from Squeezepad on an ipad. The ipad can join two
networks -- a BT hub and one from a Netgear wireless access point. If
it has joined the Netgear network, everything's fine. However if it has
joined the BT hub network, I cannot access LMS -- I do have internet
though.

I would prefer to be connected to the BT hub because it's faster in my
listening room. Anyway things are clearly not right.

Suggestions appreciated!

The server is on a computer running windows 10, it is 7.9.2.
The (very old!) Netgear product is here

I've got a feeling I was too laconic in the opening post, so let me

I want to access my music through my smartphone while away from my

play, wherever in the world I am.

As far as openVPN goes, I think I can do it with my BT Router

https://2ellsblog.wordpress.com/2016/02/09/set-up-port-fowarding-for-openvpn-on-bt-home-hub-5/

I can follow those instructions till I get to the line 14 where there's
