Re: [slim] Running Multiple Instances of Squeezebox - help
I don't think LMS can bind to multiple subnets. You need to put your transporter on the same network as everything else; Either set your second server NIC to something like 192.168.0.13 or plug the transporter direct into with wireless router - with a 192.168.0.x address (or DHCP). mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103149 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Whilst it does sound all very intriguing, it is what it is and people will need to move on from this. These kind of things do invariably happen. All we can do is hope that the fall-out for those involved is kept to a minimum. For those wondering about others entering the market, do note that there are a number of distros currently based on LMS and of those quite a few Vortexbox-based hardware providers out there already. None of these appear to be getting sued and the world of squeezebox still seems far from a dead end. We're also still quietly tinkering away with our own box.. due later this year. Whilst we will be paying particular attention to any licensing issues, it's still less of a minefield than using other solutions as the majority of components are covered by GPL. I don't really it stopping us or anyone else. Popped in Centrino 6235 and it's working in AP mode. However, it's still not connecting to my router (It's a BT Homehub - a common ISP provided unit in the UK). The router is a B/G/N device , currently running on channel 11 and using WPA WPA2 encryption and a visible SSID (standard settings). I've got a Draytek router which I've prepped for the new office (internet arrives next week). I may try that, but it would be useful to bottom out why it's not connecting to a very common box. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99132 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile
Just to add that this is a very well resolved little distro. Anyone thinking of trying Vortexbox or wanting a CSOS alternative for regular x86 PC hardware should give this a spin - It uses a firmware file rather than being a repository based distribution so you are much less likely to run into problems with upgrades. The downside is that there is less tinkering potential, but all the latest developments are included and there are a wealth of configurable options for hardware and playback. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99132 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
We have been following this thread for a while. We are looking at an ARM based unit as a multi room extension to a Vortexbox based base system. We have a Wandboard and have been playing with Clive's image - it all works very nicely. Up to now, we've not really been overly concerned with having an onboard DAC, but John's carrier board has piqued our interest and would solve some packaging issues with our case design. There is the possibility that we could have the boards properly manufactured for our own use in fully built units, and also offer the bare boards to the community at reasonable cost for diy builds. Not sure how people feel about this, and there would need to be further discussions with the various contributing parties.. but just putting the idea out there. Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
We've got a Nyxboard here for our xbmc box. It works very well, but there are issues with it losing connection after a reboot or suspend. I also think it's a bit cumbersome for an audio remote - do you need a full keyboard? Furthermore - Do you need a remote at all? A headless box would be easier to produce and the likes of Sonos has made smartphone/tablet remote control an accepted norm. If you want a screen, why not use a touchscreen? Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
Hi, Not sure if it is of interest here, but we are a small UK startup looking to a release an audiophile computer based server/transport (not a pc in an off the shelf case) later this year and have just started work on developing an 'extender' device. It's a transport only device (we may partner with KEF to bundle with the x300A speaker system, but it will available standalone) but does currently have a 'squeezebox mode' where it can connect to LMS and operate much like the kit we know and love. It is however, still early days on this one. It's currently a messy looking board, even if one of our techs does have two running in his house already. (Triode - we may be in touch as I believe we are using a modified version of your squeezelite code for this) Don't expect too much news for now - we're currently working hard to get the server unit out into the market and the extender is very much a side project for now, but it does exist. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
