[slim] Fastest path from ripping to playing
Hi. Several times I have bought a new CD that I want to then play on the transporter. My normal steps are to rip to FLAC via EAC, and then run a SlimServer scan for new songs. This takes too long when I really want to listen to the music quickly - is there a faster method to manually browse to a song not yet in the library? Thanks. -- patrija patrija's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=380 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53788 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I think I have MusicIP setup correct, but have a question System: Vista Ultimate 32, SC 7.2 - 22997 , Music IP 1.8.1b I have the MusicIP headless running. It returns: Total songs 36,582 Mixable songs 36,566 Songs to validate 561 And can create a test mix. In SC, I have the MusicIP plugin enabled. I can see the M in SC. Re: [slim] Transporter - Speaker connection help
Hi. Yes, I'd like the ability to run both systems at the same time and playing the same music. My main listening area I want to run analog signals from the transporter. I plan to use the transporter's XLR and RCA at the same time. In the home theater I use the Diva for digital processing, so I'm planning to use a digital connection from the transporter. Question: Do the XLR, RCA, and Digital all output at the same time? I've read the XLR/RCA do, but have not found anything on the digital Question: I believe my only downside to the above plan is lack of volume control between the transporter and the music room amplifier. For now I'll have to use the transporter volume control. -- patrija patrija's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=380 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47913 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Transporter - Speaker connection help
Hi. I have a transporter that I'm trying to setup optimally and could use advice. Here's what I'm trying to do: 1) I have a 2-channel music room with Anthony Gallo Reference 3.1 speakers driven by an Audio Control 2-channel Avalon amplifier and the Gallo sub amp. 2) I have a 7.1-channel home theater room driven by an Audio Control Maestro 2e premap, Diva processor, 7-channel Savoy amplifier, and Boston Acoustic sub amp. All equipment is in a central rack with speaker cable runs to the music room and home theater. My goal is to send the best audio signal to the Gallo Ref 3.1's in the music room, while hopefully being able to play the same music in the home theater. What I'm planning to do is: MUSIC ROOM: - Transporter XLR to Avalon to Ref 3.1 - Transporter RCA to SubAmp to Ref 3.1 Second Coil HOME THEATER: - Transporter Digital Out to Maestro M2e / Diva / Savoy to home theater speakers. I think my biggest assumption is that the XLR, RCA, and digital outs can all run at the same time. I've read in the forums that the XLR and RCA work at the same time, but didn't see anything on the digital outs. I think the biggest downside is that for now I'll be relying on the Transporter's volume control, which will affect volume in both the music room and the home theater? Does this sound right? I plan to try this tomorrow with my systems installer. Thank you for any thoughts! PS - This is a temporary setup for a few months. Eventually I'll want to also include a Crestron PAD8-A to run the audio to various whole house speakers. That might get real confusing -- patrija patrija's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=380 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47913 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

check out the d-link hd media lounge offerings. it is very slick with video streaming, active tv integration, plus does a pretty damn good job with music streaming. [slim] Squeezebox and Hamachi
REPOST to correct forum. I have a remote media server at a co-lo host with a fixed public IP running SlimServer. I connect to this remote server using a SqueezeBox on my local home network to stream music. That works perfect. On the remote media server I have a hamachi client, and I also have a hamachi client on all the PCs on my local network. I have locked the firewall on the remote media server to only allow remote desktop, etc. via the hamachi network connection. That works perfect. CHALLENGE: I want the SqueezeBox on my local network to connect to the remote media server via the hamachi IP address. This way I can lock the firewall on the remote media server to ONLY allow hamachi connections. I don't believe it's possible to load a hamachi client on the SqueezeBox. Any ideas? I spent the week getting songs and creating playlists for a party tonight and now have an urgent music problem! Help? Advice? Thanks! I have a fairly small library of about 2400 songs, the majority of which are converted to M4a files. Everything was playing fine all week, and then on Friday two things happened: (1) my wife upgraded to iTunes7 and, (2) I upgarded Slimserver to 6.5.1 - 10426 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Now, it appears that none of my M4a files are playing. Can't guarantee all are not, but everyone tried thus far is not playing. All other file types play fine. I've downloaded the latest LAME and Player/Audio settings say its working. I've checked and have the latest Quicktime versions. Not sure where to go from here, but I'm losing time. I've seen this under certain circumstances, and I can tell you it's an issue with the Opera browser and not the skin per se. I don't know how I can fix this, but I will see if there's anyway of preloading images into opera's cache (esp. ones that are used repeatedly throughout a page like these) workarounds: configure slimserver through server settings to not display as many items/page. hit the playlist icon a second time when you see this and the images may load on the page refresh. *** See some recent posts about images. THIS THING ROCKS! The WAF factor has gone up tremendously (very important) - she never liked using a PDA and obviously hated having to go look at the squeezebox. In the interest of providing *constructive* feedback, here's some wife comments. Please take these as constructive usability comments, not knocks or technical criticism. As I said this skin ROCKS! 1) She liked the bigger album display when using Telcanto on an Axim. Overall now playing interface is much better, just liked the a bigger picture. 2) Same question regarding the Repeat and Random icons - what are they and why can't you click them. Once explained it made sense. Agree with earlier post on not adding text, keep it clean. One idea might be to put a background behind the repeat and random icons so them look like a header rather than a clickable icon? 3) When you put the 770 down flat (e.g. on a table), the light grey (teal?) icons and text wash out. Maybe another color? 4) If click on Squeezebox's Playlist when it's empty, the image is not sized correctly - scrolls right. 5) If click on a Squeezebox's Playlist when it's full of songs, there are not icons for Play, Move Up, Move Down, Next, Remove, etc. Looks like text box image place holders? Thinking of something like a frame for the playlist, but sure that's not the right way to do it. Usage example is if you scroll of the bottom of a playlist to force a song to play next (AWESOME FUNCTION!), you then have to scroll all the way back up to get to the Now Playing icon. 8) Possible to slightly increase font size for the menu on the Settings page? Re: bug 1278. Progress is being made, but no fix yet. I have a hack file that allows me to play my playlists, but without it I'm DOA since 90% of what we listen to is Playlists. Lots of testing been going on, so hopefully it'll get fixed soon. -- patrija ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

have you gotten your playlists to show up? I'm having the same problem. I have a party this weekend end don't want to have to recreate my playlist (1000+ songs - played on random) -- patrija ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
