[slim] Can Amazon Music cast to Transporter?

2022-01-02 Thread vett93

Is there a plugin or something that can convert Transporter into
something that Amazon Music app can cast to? Like most people, I don't
rip CDs anymore. But I have a good modified Transporter and I'd like to
use it to play music.

[slim] Power Switch II for LMS in Mac OS X

2014-05-31 Thread vett93

I just switched to Mac from Windows and need some help on the power
switch control plugin, Power Switch II. I have been using Power Switch

before falling into sleep. The plugin Power Switch II on my Windows PC
has been working great in the last 7 years. However, the Mac version of
LMS does not seem to have this plugin.

Can anyone suggest what I can do? I usually set the timer for 30 minutes
and then listen to the music and fall into sleep. Thanks.

Re: [slim] Transporter and SB Classic packet throughput

2012-01-22 Thread vett93

My Transporter plays 16/44 and 24/96 PCM streams just fine. Since I am
an engineer by education, I can't stand that the packets are dropped
and then re-transmitted. :-)

I am guessing that the TCP window size is too big. The LMS sends more
data than the Transporter can accept. This could lead to buffer
overflow and then packet re-transmission.

[slim] Transporter and SB Classic packet throughput

2012-01-21 Thread vett93

What are the right througput levels for Transporter and SB Classic? I
used the Network Test function and obtained about 1 Mbps throughput for
them. Note that both of them are wired. 1 Mbps throughput on a wired
network seems to be very low to me. Are there ways to improve the
throughput?

I experimented server side transcoding and converted FLAC and Apple
Lossless files to PCM before sending to Transporter and SB Classic.
They play just fine. But when I use Wireshark to trace the packets, I
see lots of packets from the server labeled as TCP segment of a
reassembled PDU. This seems to me that there are lots of packet
retransmissions.

I also traced some packets for MP3 music. There are no such TCP
segment of a reassembled PDU packets from the server side. This
suggests that there is no packet retransmission for MP3 music.

I would be interested in tuning the system so that my Transporter and
SB Classic can achieve higher throughput level. Thanks.

Re: [slim] Wake on Lan problem SB classic and Asus RT-N56U Router

2012-01-16 Thread vett93

I downloaded a WOL app on my Android phone. Before I put the PC into the
sleep mode, I ran Wireshark on this PC to verify that it could receive
the magic packet. It did capture the WOL magic packet. So I put the PC
into sleep mode and sent the WOL magic packet from the Android phone.
The PC did wake up. So far so good

However, I tried again and it did not work this time. So I pressed the
power key on the remote control of the SB3. It did turn on the PC. Then
I used Wireshark on the PC again and sent the WOL magic packet from my
Android phone. The PC did receive the magic packet again.

So I put the PC into sleep mode for the 3rd time and sent the WOL magic
packet from the Android phone. But the PC did not wake up. So I used the
SB3 remote control again to turn on the PC. Then I sent another WOL
magic packet from Android and did see it on the PC Wireshark.

Then I tried again and it still did not work. Very strange. Can someone
explain to me what I should do next?

I also tried the WOL tool from simply-ware.com on my laptop. However,
the PC could not receive the magic packet. On the laptop, I tried both
Ethernet and WiFi connection, but the PC couldn't receive the magic
packet from either interface.

Do I have to do anything special on my laptop to send WOL magic
packets?

Re: [slim] Wake on Lan problem SB classic and Asus RT-N56U Router

2012-01-15 Thread vett93

What are the differences between the suspend and normal off modes? I
have never heard of such terms. I think Windows 7 and Vista support the
follow modes:

Operation
Away
S1
S2
S3 (known as sleep)
S4 (known as hibernate)
S5 (power off)

My LMS runs on a Windows Vista Home Premium desktop machine and is
wired to a router. My SB Classic and Transporter can wake it up from
the sleep mode. These two players can be wired or wireless and they
work just fine. I am pretty happy with the setup.

However, the Softsqueeze (3.9b2) on my laptop cannot wake up the PC. I
have tried several WOL tools and they couldn't wake up the PC either.

Can someone please comment why SB Classic and Transporter can wake up
my PC and Softsqueeze cannot? I would like to remote wake up my PC for
other purposes too. (e.g., serving as a photo sharing server via
CIFS/SMB for my Wetern Digital streaming media player, etc.)

Sorry, I am still confused. When you said I tried (just out of

If the WiFi module does get shut down, it will have a lower noise

[slim] 3V-12V trigger voltage converter

2011-01-22 Thread vett93

Can someone please point me to where I can get a converter for
converting the SB3 3V trigger output to 12V? My subwoofer needs 12V
trigger input.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [slim] Latest Sueezebox Server version for SB3 and Transpoter

2010-12-12 Thread vett93

Thanks for the comment. My only concern is the latest software's
compatibility with PowerSwitch II. I am running V7.3.2 of server
software and the PowerSwitch II runs fine. It turns on and off my amp,
which is an important feature for me. Will I be able to continue the
use of PowerSwitch II with the latest software?

Re: [slim] SqueezeCenter Unable to Write To: when startup

2008-04-19 Thread vett93

I got my problem fixed. The cause of the problem is that I used Norton
360 and Spyboot at the same time. According to the tech support from
Symantec, some software may not work properly with two security
software running at the same time.

I removed Spyboot and re-installed Norton. Everything works!

Re: [slim] SqueezeCenter Unable to Write To: when startup

My user account has administrator priviledges. If I close the tray icon
and restart SC, the same error message is still there.

Please help! Thanks.

[slim] SqueezeCenter Unable to Write To: when startup

2008-04-13 Thread vett93

When I start up SqueezeCenter on my Windows Vista PC, I get a Unable to
Write To: error message. It does not say what it is unable to write to.
Can someone advise how I can debug the problem?

My SqueezeCenter had worked fine until last week after I upgraded my
2007 Norton 360 to 2008 Norton 360 Premier Edition. At first,
SqueezeCenter couldn't start because it couldn't find a file. So I
re-installed SqueezeCenter. Now, it is giving me the Unable to Write
To: error message when I first start up the software.

Everything seems to work fine except PowerSwitch II plugin. Any
pointers will be greatly appreciated.

[slim] keep-alive messages

2008-04-09 Thread vett93

I have a Transporter and a Squeezebox, and use my PC to run
Squeezecenter. I noticed that my PC had been sending out lots of
messages as indicated by my WiFi router.

So I downloaded Wireshark, which was formerly known as Ethereal, to
monitor what was going on. I found out that there had been a lot of
keep-alive messages between my PC and Transporter/Squeezebox.

Are there ways to greatly reduce the amount of keep-alive messages?
Thanks.

[slim] buggy Transporter

2008-01-01 Thread vett93

I have a Transporter and a SB3. The SB3 works reliably. The Transporter,
even though offers high quality audio, is not as reliable. I have to
power cycle it about once a week. I use analog output for both of
them.

The two common problems for Transporter are as follows.

1. No analog output: the simulated analog VU meters are moving but no
sound.

2. The unit restarts itself while playing music.

The Transporter's firmware version is 31 and I run 6.5.4 slim server. I
have reset the Transporter but still does not fix the problem.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

David

[slim] reload Transporter firmware? how?

2007-11-25 Thread vett93

I bought a new Transporter 2 months ago. It seems to have developed some
problems. For example, after I choose a song from my HD, if I change the
volume control before it plays the song, my Transporter will freeze. It
also has other problems like stopping without any reasons.

The transporter runs firmware 31 and the slim server is 6.5.4 on
Windows Vista.

Can someone tell me how I can reload the Transporter firmware? Thanks
in advance.

[slim] Can Transporter IR Output be used as 12V trigger?

2007-10-06 Thread vett93

Is there a way to configure the IR output port as 12V trigger? My power
line conditioner can take 12V trigger to turn on and off some outlets.

I use cable with mini jack connectors. But Transporter does not seem to
trigger on/off the power line conditioner.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

[slim] trigger amp on and off

2007-09-23 Thread vett93

I am thinking to get a Squeezbox or Transporter for my bedroom. One key
feature I need is DC trigger to turn on/ff amp with the sleep timer.

Can any or both of them do that? I'd like to set the timer and listen
to music before I fall into sleep.

Thanks.

Re: [slim] trigger amp on and off

2007-09-23 Thread vett93

Thanks for the pointer. My amp has a DC trigger input jack already. So I
don't need to use an external relay for controlling the power.

My question is related to the sleep timer of the Squeezbox and
Transporter. When the sleep timer expires and turn itself off, will it
send the signal to the infrared output jack to turn off the amp?

Thanks.
