Re: [slim] Transporter and SB Classic packet throughput
My Transporter plays 16/44 and 24/96 PCM streams just fine. Since I am an engineer by education, I can't stand that the packets are dropped and then re-transmitted. :-) I am guessing that the TCP window size is too big. The LMS sends more data than the Transporter can accept. [slim] Transporter and SB Classic packet throughput
What are the right througput levels for Transporter and SB Classic? I used the Network Test function and obtained about 1 Mbps throughput for them. Note that both of them are wired. 1 Mbps throughput on a wired network seems to be very low to me. Are there ways to improve the throughput? I experimented server side transcoding and converted FLAC and Apple Lossless files to PCM before sending to Transporter and SB Classic. They play just fine. But when I use Wireshark to trace the packets, I see lots of packets from the server labeled as TCP segment of a reassembled PDU. This seems to me that there are lots of packet retransmissions. I also traced some packets for MP3 music. There are no such TCP segment of a reassembled PDU packets from the server side. This suggests that there is no packet retransmission for MP3 music. I would be interested in tuning the system so that my Transporter and SB Classic can achieve higher throughput level. Re: [slim] Wake on Lan problem SB classic and Asus RT-N56U Router
I downloaded a WOL app on my Android phone. Before I put the PC into the sleep mode, I ran Wireshark on this PC to verify that it could receive the magic packet. It did capture the WOL magic packet. So I put the PC into sleep mode and sent the WOL magic packet from the Android phone. The PC did wake up. So far so good However, I tried again and it did not work this time. So I pressed the power key on the remote control of the SB3. It did turn on the PC. Then I used Wireshark on the PC again and sent the WOL magic packet from my Android phone. The PC did receive the magic packet again. So I put the PC into sleep mode for the 3rd time and sent the WOL magic packet from the Android phone. But the PC did not wake up. So I used the SB3 remote control again to turn on the PC. Then I sent another WOL magic packet from Android and did see it on the PC Wireshark. Then I tried again and it still did not work. Very strange. Can someone explain to me what I should do next? I also tried the WOL tool from simply-ware.com on my laptop. However, the PC could not receive the magic packet. I think Windows 7 and Vista support the follow modes: Operation Away S1 S2 S3 (known as sleep) S4 (known as hibernate) S5 (power off) My LMS runs on a Windows Vista Home Premium desktop machine and is wired to a router. My SB Classic and Transporter can wake it up from the sleep mode. These two players can be wired or wireless and they work just fine. I am pretty happy with the setup. However, the Softsqueeze (3.9b2) on my laptop cannot wake up the PC. I have tried several WOL tools and they couldn't wake up the PC either. [slim] buggy Transporter
I have a Transporter and a SB3. The SB3 works reliably. The Transporter, even though offers high quality audio, is not as reliable. I have to power cycle it about once a week. I use analog output for both of them. The two common problems for Transporter are as follows. 1. No analog output: the simulated analog VU meters are moving but no sound. 2. The unit restarts itself while playing music. The Transporter's firmware version is 31 and I run 6.5.4 slim server. I have reset the Transporter but still does not fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. [slim] reload Transporter firmware? how?
I bought a new Transporter 2 months ago. It seems to have developed some problems. For example, after I choose a song from my HD, if I change the volume control before it plays the song, my Transporter will freeze. It also has other problems like stopping without any reasons. The transporter runs firmware 31 and the slim server is 6.5.4 on Windows Vista. Can someone tell me how I can reload the Transporter firmware? [slim] Can Transporter IR Output be used as 12V trigger?
Is there a way to configure the IR output port as 12V trigger? My power line conditioner can take 12V trigger to turn on and off some outlets. I use cable with mini jack connectors. But Transporter does not seem to trigger on/off the power line conditioner. Any suggestions? [slim] trigger amp on and off
I am thinking to get a Squeezbox or Transporter for my bedroom. One key feature I need is DC trigger to turn on/ff amp with the sleep timer. Can any or both of them do that? I'd like to set the timer and listen to music before I fall into sleep. Re: [slim] trigger amp on and off
Thanks for the pointer. My amp has a DC trigger input jack already. So I don't need to use an external relay for controlling the power. My question is related to the sleep timer of the Squeezbox and Transporter. When the sleep timer expires and turn itself off, will it send the signal to the infrared output jack to turn off the amp?
