[slim] Re: ASX stream support

2005-11-26 Thread bigengineer

I just received my squeezebox3. All works fine except dutch radio.
Realaudio stuff works fine with alienbbc. The asx stream, or whatever
the format is, doesn't. As far as I found out radio1 for instance is
this link:
http://switch.streamgate.nl/cgi-bin/streamswitch?streamid=42a=.asx

This doesn't work (of course?). Is it supposed to work? I am also
interested in the concertzender. The earlier mentioned links don't
work (for me). Is there anyone who has a working radio1-4 or 747am?

Dirk

If you look at that URL's source, you'll see it basically links to
http://www.omroep.nl/live/radio1-breed.asx. I just plugged that into
the 'radio tune-in' and it works.

(Though I have no idea what they're saying, but.. I can hear it fine.)

Wow, I am speechless. I tried so many different links, but not this
one. How did you look at URL's source? I tried to download it with
wget. But this gives me a different URL. Just curious about this.

Thanks, now the squeezebox can play about anything I want!

I used firefox, and it spawned Media Player but left up a blank page.
I used viewsource on that page.

Actually, if you look at that URL, you'll see it just points to
another... which has the real urls, but it's close enough for
slimserver to figure out and follow the trail.

After some trial error I can get the right links with wget. I don't
know if the guy who started the thread already has his concertzender
but this works for me:

http://livemedia.omroep.nl/concertzender-breed
The 5 channel link didn't work for me.

People speak highly of this shareware tool:

http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/urlsnooper/index.html

Many links to streaming audio and video that you come across on the web
are hidden behind javascript or activex scripts. Because of this, it is
sometimes very difficult to figure out the actual urls that correspond
to the streams being played. URL Snooper provides easy solution to
finding the URLs for all streams by by watching network traffic and
identifying potential urls, especially streaming media urls.

I haven't used it myself yet, but I have it bookmarked for the next time
I need to reverse engineer a hidden streaming media link.

[slim] Re: ASX stream support

2005-10-10 Thread jonolumb

Hi there- somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but...
ASX is just a playlist file. If you open one in notepad, it just
contains some header information and a list of links to (normally) wmv
audio streams. So it is not asx that isnt supported but wmv. However,
if you download the latest beta, you will find that wmv is supported if
you have the slimserver turned on (yes- that does defy the object but at
least your computer doesnt have to do on the fly converting). The reason
you cannot yet get wmv on squeezenetwork is because the squeezenetwork
servers have not yet been updated to support this- I'm sure this is
fairly easy but wont be available until an official release comes out
-as opposed to the beta's.
Hope this makes sense

[slim] Re: ASX stream support

2005-10-10 Thread SlimPvC

You're right about ASX being a playlist..However, the file that is
loaded when you click on the Surround Link image (SR) on
http://www.concertzender.nl/cgi/sr.php is an asx.file that does not
contain a link to a wmv file. It opens windows media players that
starts the streaming.
I do not know how to make this link available to the squeezebox. Maybe
you have any suggestions?

BTW - I don't need to have it available on the squeezenetwork, since my
slimserver is on all of the time. I'd like to make a reference to this
stream so that I can listen to it, just as other radiostations, like
Live365 etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, as this is the first SURROUND
stream that I have found.

Bye
Peter

had to go round the houses a little, but try putting the following into
the slimserver radio GUI
http://livemedia.omroep.nl/concertzender-5channel?MSWMExt=.asf

or

I tried this, but I can't get it to work. SB shows the link in the
display, but doesn't start playing. Maybe that's because it's SURROUND
WMA?

Using Slimserver 6.2b1 - 4551 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252

Thanks for the suggestion, anyway
