In between I had built the library after installing perl, and running perl scanner.pl --wipe and it worked (have not tried with itunes options) I had some problems with my antivirus for some reason that I have not been able to understand. After an other reinstall with a different antivirus installed, I now have both a scanner.exe and a scanner.pl and the library scan did work. I had problem with Avast, BUT I have had it for a long time and do not recall any issues with it and slimserver in the past, so I am not sure. I reinstalled it since, but I am not going to retry from scratch (library is large). We just need to know that there should be both a scanner.exe and a scanner.pl under a windows install. Any other idea ? Is there supposed to be a scanner.exe in that folder ? or is it the scanner.pl only ? No, there must be a scanner.exe file. I thought most of slim was done with perl script like scanner.pl ? Using slimserver 6.5.4, fresh install, and already tried to reinstall Using itunes (but tried without as well). Trying to rescan does not build the collection. Looking at the log file, I see this message below: Setup::rescan - initiating scan of type: [wipecache] slimsvc: no executable program located at C:/Program Files/SlimServer/server/scanner.pl The file is present at that location. size is 7987 bytes. Help much appreciated. A precision, if I browse the music folder in slimserver, then the files gets added to the collection. Not sure if that helps. Sounds it could be a firewall problem, where the firewall isn't allowing the scanner to execute. I am conencting locally, not from outside , using : http://127.0.0.1:9000/ My windows firewall is disabled. There is NOT a windows executable. Should there be a scanner.exe ? There is only a scanner.pl in the server directoty. Thank you !
