Solutions: 1) Go to Ebay and buy a Boom, issue solved. 2) Go to Ebay and buy an SB Radio (Baby), they are all over ebay for $79, issue solved. 3) Install iPeng on an iPhone and stream LMS music to the phone (add external speaker via headphone out if not loud enough for you). 4) Go to Ebay and buy a SB Controller and connect headphone out to any powered speaker, issue solved. 5) Buy a Raspberry Pi3b, HiFiBerry AMP2, and power supply to power whatever speakers you have laying around, issue solved. Command Clips come down without leaving any marks. 7) Leave bathroom door open and play music from another room really loud! 8) And on and on, what is the deal with trying to add Bluetooth when it is not needed? *iPhone* Media Room: ModWright Platinum Signature Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Wood Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1, Vandersteen V2W Subwoofer Living Room: Transporter, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Office: Touch with Vandersteen VSM-1s Kitchen: Touch in-wall mount w/ Thiel Powerpoint 1.2s Bedroom: Squeezebox BOOM Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Around the House: SliMP3, SB1, SB2, SB3 Ford Thunderbird: SB Touch, USB drive Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Unless you're planning on immersing the speaker, or subjecting it directly to water spray, the exposed jack with plug inserted shouldn't present a issue for water entry into the device. ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Speaker for bathroom
I think I'd be looking for a set of small powered/active speaker (that is, speakers with a built-in amplifier). Depending on the dampness levels and ventilation in the room, it might make sense to look for speakers are either waterproof or at least built for damp environments. There is a product category generally called "outdoor speakers" that are designed to be installed on decks, patios and gardens. The catch here is that these are mostly unpowered designs. If you don't find an active outdoor speaker to your liking, also consider using a portable or home "Bluetooth" speaker. Although products in this category usually carry the "Bluetooth" moniker, most all of them have a standard 3.5mm stereo aux input. There are an enormous variety of models available, and many of them are designed to be waterproof. As a bonus, they usually have rechargeable on-board batteries, giving you a dual-use option. As far as specific models: I have an (older model) TDK A33 that works great. Good reviews for all of these (and many, many others...): JBL Flip 4 Logitech UE ROLL 2 VAVA Voom 21 Sony XRSXB3 Good luck. ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Speaker for bathroom
It's not my house, so I can't use in wall speakers sadly. Thank all for yours answers. Why use a complex system in bathroom ? Sometime I quickly take my shower so I don't have time to make a playlist. Or sometime I don't want to take my phone to make a playlist. Etc...So I use my nodon button to launch songs mix and skip if I don't want to listen. It's ok but my button can't get into shower so I have to use it outside. Control isn't the first problem. max2play, is it possible to use Bluetooth speaker with your image ? Re: [slim] Speaker for bathroom
Hi guys, @Hydro: First of all, congrats on what sounds like a great setup! :) On your intended expansion; waterproof components are not really that common for Raspberry Pi. Most cases are rather open. However, if you are able to place the Pi out of harm's way, the new AMP2 by HiFiBerry could be a great option for this zone. It supports higher voltages up to 24V and nearly all common speakers between 4 and 8 ohms impedance allowing you to get your speakers from the stereo into the mix. Nonetheless, the device should not get splashed with water, ideally ;) Max2Play's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66120 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Speaker for bathroom
. . What? Who in the world needs to control music while in the shower? Put a playlist on, set the volume to the level you want, then take a shower IE don't interface with electronics while wet or in the bathroom! I use a Baby (SB Radio) in the master bathroom only on battery, I turn it on, create a playlist or select a whole album, set the volume level to where I want it, then shave and take my shower. The downstairs bath, in the basement, has a steam bath shower stall (take a shower or take a schvitz) so I have installed two waterproof coaxial car speakers in the ceiling and now drive them with a Amp Hat on a rPI in the hallway towel/linen closet (I get power off the closet light bulb socket with one of the screw in plug adapters and the speaker wires go into the ceiling at the back corner of the Closet and out to the bathroom speakers) this gives a permanent full time solution. There are many options for this depending on what you already own, what you want to use, or even how much you want to spend or not spend. *iPhone* Media Room: ModWright Platinum Signature Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Wood Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1, Vandersteen V2W Subwoofer Living Room: Transporter, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Office: Touch with Vandersteen VSM-1s Kitchen: Touch in-wall mount w/ Thiel Powerpoint 1.2s Bedroom: Squeezebox BOOM Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Around the House: SliMP3, SB1, SB2, SB3 Ford Thunderbird: SB Touch, USB drive Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Speaker for bathroom
Hi I try to find on my own a speaker for my bathroom but I don't find it. Basically I've got a rpi on my bathroom with max2play. I've got a old HiFi stereo with rpi connect to AUX. I've got a zwave button next to my shower to control music (by http request). I want to remove the hifi stereo but I don't find what to buy. - hifiberry ampli and keep speakers from my stereo ? - basic speakers to connect through jack ? - Bluetooth speaker but how to connect to my rpi and sync with others Squeezebox ? If the speaker is waterproof it's a big +1. I saw the altec lansing jacket h2o but I don't know if the jack is waterproof. Same questions about controlling music, is there a solution to get inside the shower ? Thank for your help !
