Well, I gave up and just reinstalled version 7.5 and everything works
fine again. Sometimes when it ain't broke it just isn't worth
upgrading to the latest and greatest version. I'm just happy all is
well in Squuezeland again.

Re: [slim] Squeezepod on the iPod

2010-07-04 Thread carrera

Hi,
No idea, whats happening there, but I am running 7.5.1 with Win xp, and
no issues with the squeezecast here, it does what it should, in a very
simple way eg it does not support iPhone 4, if you change the App. the
sound stops - but i can live with that, and I am still waiting for
Pippins iPeng, to implement the player func.
Kind regards

Help, I'm having the same problem. I just upgraded to 7.5.1 and prior
to the upgrade my port 9090 and Squeezepod were working 100 percent.
Post upgrade, everything else is working fine: players work, iPeng
works etc., however it now shows port 9090: failed thus making
Squeezepod unable to log on. Nothing else on my computer has changed
other than the 7.5.1 upgrade. Also I have no firewall on. Any ideas on
what to do would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: [slim] Squeezepod on the iPod

2010-01-10 Thread nspindel

I've bought both of these apps. Seems this -should- be an opportunity
for ipeng and squeezebod to partner up, no? These products right now
are both completely complimentary. iPeng is the ultimate Squeezebox
controller, I enjoy it far better than the actual $300 Controller.
But... It's not a player. That's it's one shortcoming right now,
appreciating that it should be at some time in the future. But then
comes along SqueezePod which can do today (well, apart from my
connection continuously dropping) the one thing iPeng can't, but has
virtually no visual or control functionality built yet. Why would both
of you want to duplicate each others efforts, rather than combine forces
a bit and have the ultimate killer Squeezebox app?

Any response from them? I see this as well sometimes.

Also, it seems to play fine until the screen shuts itself off. As soon
as the power saving kicks in, audio play back ends. Power the iphone
back up, it starts playing again. Can't seem to get it to play while
iphone is in power saving mode, which is a bit of a drag. Any way to
fix that?

SqueezeMobile has more control capabilities but uses stream.mp3 so your
server has to transcode everything which means it sometimes doesn't
work.
SqueezePod is more stable and plays a lot of formats but is limited in
control features to playing albums.

If yes: if you go to Settings (there's a link at the bottom of the

(among other things) the Server IP Address. That's what you need. It's
probably the only thing you need to set.

Hm.. you are not using iPeng, you are using SqueezePod, right?
With SqueezePod:
1. There's actually two volume controls, the one you control with the
keys on the side of the iPod and the slider. They overlay each other.
This is very confusing.
2+3 Yes, but not on the device itself but only on the web interface on
the PC.

OR you open
http://server IP:9000/stream.mp3
with Safari (the browser) on your iPod and use iPeng to control it :)

Hi Pippin and Garym,
Thanks both for your help, Pippin for helping with a competitors

Pippin: using the volume control toggle control (top left of iPod

myself, doh!

Garym: have got iTunes loaded but I think I now realise why there is no
facility on the iPod Touch to create playlists - presumably the

rather than offering the ability to create a playlist on the Touch
itself.

Thanks again for your help,

I'm a little confused about what you are actually playing on the
iTouch. Am I correct that you are using an app called Squeezepod on the
itouch to play music through your SqueezeboxServer (SbS) (which is
installed on your local PC). If so, yes, the playlists are made on the
SbS and the iTouch is just giving you control over playback via the
squeezepod app.

I use it, too.
Browsing is very limited but the playback works well.

Re: [slim] Squeezepod on the iPod

2009-12-28 Thread JeffHart

Why not just point Safari to your.server.com:9000/stream.mp3 and use
iPeng to control it? This has the advantage of being able to listen to
your music in the background while using other apps on your iPhone or
iPod Touch.

Works great over WiFi, a bit problematic over 3G - large lag time and
while it's technically running in the background using another app in
the foreground that needs data access will interrupt the stream.

Not exactly elegant, but until Apple starts allowing a wider range of
apps to run in the background its not a bad approach.

Re: [slim] Squeezepod on the iPod

2009-12-28 Thread Gerry123

I find I just listen to music on the iPod while I'm doing something else
without the need to sync everything I have onto the iPod, too much
duplication/faff and no way am I letting iTunes anywhere near SBC.

Still use iPeng app when listening out loud as it were.

Streaming on iPeng sounds good. I can choose either then. Consumer
power eh? :-)

Keep up the good work guys.

Gerry.

Does it do gapless playback? Does it play the FLAC files directly or
do you have to set it up to transcode on the server side?

Thanks.

Hi Pippin -

When iPeng supports this, will it do gapless playback of LAME mp3
files? Will it support FLAC without the need to transcode?

Thanks!

Don't know about gapless but not even having lame installed on the
server FLAC files play just fine, radio as well.

[slim] Squeezepod on the iPod

2009-12-27 Thread Gerry123

Just installed this app on my iPod Touch.

Streams music from SBS to your iPod over wifi.

Pretty basic atm. Can't do much with it other than listen to streeaming
music (now there's a surprise) but works better than the SBC IMHO.

Pretty good for £3.49.

Anyone else using this yet?

P.S. I'm not affiliated to Sqeezepod but I thought it might be
interesting to some.

Gerry.
