Re: [slim] Synced Players

I have a wired SB3 and wireless Boom and Receiver. I get noticeable
delays/echo if I ever try to sync them.

I have a receiver/controller, boom, and sb3. No noticeable lag at all.

5 Receivers 1 Boom - no noticeable delays in any combination. A few
versions back I'd start getting delay if I hadn't rebooted my server in
awhile, haven't noticed it in the last two versions I've run. Don't
remember the last other than a later build of 4.7.1, went to 4.7.2 when
the team was looking for more testers.

Haven't tried it with 4.7.2, but I would get a bit of delay sync'ing
the controller using 4.7.1, but that was out of curiosity rather than a
real life use case.

10ms.
No echo. Not noticeable. The biggest difference you'll see will be from
different range to the speakers.

I get no noticeable delay or echoing with hardware SBs. Software players
(SoftSqueeze, SqueezePlay, squeezeslave) and the headphone jack of the
SB Controller do not sync reliably.

The latest releases of SBS has improved sync quality dramatically, IMO.
The players will still get slightly out-of-sync from time to time
(resulting in a slight echo), but it doesn't happen nearly as often for
me as it used to.

Re: [slim] Synced Players

2010-03-12 Thread Muele

I often sync my two Recievers and Radio.

I have one spot where I can hear all three players. I cannot hear any
delay or echo, ever.

During the last year or so I have an issue once. The radio what ~ ½
second out of sync. It was so from the beginning and two presses on
pause solved it.

However they way you set up the sync from either an IR remote or a
Controller is Less than optimal. If you have more than two players and
want to switch sync on and off at a regular basis you simply *must* look
at third party plugins or even thirdparty hardware (iPhone or other
smartphone).
Which is fair enough given the Slim-design-philosophy. Logitech
provides the core functionality and if you want something more fancy,
look for 3rd party software. (3rd party plugins that I know are worth
looking at: OtherPlayers and the Synchronizer)
