[slim] what exactly does the transporter do?
what exactly does the transporter do? I mean what is it useful for if I have an duet? it looks nice though, but I would like to know what its purpose in a system is? -- hammond hammond's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19511 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51595 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] what exactly does the transporter do?
It's a high-end, high-performance audiophile player, the flagship player if you will. It does the same things the Duet does, just better, plus it has many connectors the Duet doesn't (balanced outs, word clock in, digital in, BNC connectors, RS232 etc.) -- Mark Lanctot Make it so it doesn't suck is a good design target, but hard to implement - Michael Herger Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51595 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

hammond wrote: what exactly does the transporter do? I mean what is it useful for if I have an duet? It replaces the Receiver part of your Duet. Higher quality audio. Sure, and you can use the receiver somewhere else too. you can use the duet on the transporter? To be specific, you can use the controller (SBC) portion of the Duet with the Transporter, and you can still use the receiver (SBR) portion of the Duet in another part of your house. The controller will allow you to choose between both and control them independently or synch them if you wish. -- Mark Lanctot Make it so it doesn't suck is a good design target, but hard to implement - Michael Herger Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51595 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

hammond;88 Wrote: so if I should have that one, I would change my receiver and actually use my duet control to control the transporter? you can use the duet on the transporter? The Duet is simply the combination of the SqueezeBox Controller and SqueezeBox Reciever. The Controller can be used with any current or previous SlimDevices products, right the way back to the SliMP3. -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51595 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] what exactly does the transporter do?
Also, the Transporter comes with its own infrared remote, which works with the Transporter but not with the SB Receiver. So if you got a Transporter you could control with the IR remote and/or the SB Controller, and you could redploy the SBR to another room, and control it with the SB Controller. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51595 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
