Score a Boom! it is a great sounding system if you are bought into the SB ecosystem. (The Radio is not, sounds awful in comparison). if you start from scratch there are many offerings that sound good. i LOVE our ecosystem, but i would not recommend it to mainstream customers these days. :-( ...pablo Server: Virtual Machine (on VMware Workstation 12) running Ubuntu 16.04 + LMS 7.9 System: SB Touch --optical->- Benchmark DAC2HGC --AnalysisPlus Oval Copper XLR->- NAD M22 Power Amp --AnalysisPlus Black Mesh Oval->- Totem Element Fire Other Rooms: 2x SB Boom; 1x SB Radio; 1x SB Classic-> NAD D7050 -> Totem DreamCatcher + Velodyne Minivee Sub Computer audio: workstation --USB->- audioengine D1 -> Grado PS500e/Shure 1540 pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105269 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi there, Another option could be a Jungo speaker - I have just purchased a Jungo S3 spearker and it works with the UpnpBridge plugin. Was discovered by the plugin without a lot of fuzz. After a quick test the speaker seems to quite a good bargain. Build quality seems good, nice size, and the sound is for sure OK as a kitchen speaker or for ambient music. Gives the same control option as the other players - just not sync. Hi, I would suggest an AirPlay speaker and the AirPlay bridge plugin. Simple solution, with a minimum of hardware. Chromecast Audio connected to Audio Pro Addon T3 and you can move it around in the house (or anywhere). T3 runs on battery, has both AUX and can power a USB device like Chromecast. Use the Chromecast Bridge plugin and control it like a SB. You could also use an airplay device and repurpose the Touch to a more SQ-critical mission if you don't mind controlling the player through an app. With philippe_44's airplay bridge plugin you have audio sync if you want. 4 SB 3 Libratone Loop mk.2 iPeng (iPhone + iPad) Squeezebox Server 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105269 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

But will an PLAY 5 not offer better sound than 2 A2+? 2 A5+ would be too big I think. The ideal solution would have been a Radio rather than a Touch, I suspect. All in one, small size. Probably cheaper too. You might be able to sell the Touch (in great demand) for enough to get one. Hi, Maybe you want to take a look at the Nubert NuPro100. Unfortunately the nubert.de Website is only available in german. They are small active speakers with all necessary Inputs (spdif, toslink, USB and analog) and it is possible to use them stereo or single. I own a paar of nuvero 60 and the are really great. Have you considered in-ceiling speakers? In-ceiling speakers provide a lot of advantages: nice spread sound, almost invisible, no visible cabling etc. I've done that in the bedroom and am very happy with the result.
