I tried wiggling the connector - it's fine.
I tried using the Touch PSU - no difference.

Temporarily moved the Touch into bedroom for alarm clock - the experience is 
not as good, I've got to get this SB3 fixed!

SB3 & Touch PSU's are interchangeable if *not* using the Touch's USB to
power a HD.  Touch PSU has slightly higher amp draw to handle the USB
power.

Just checked the PSUs.  SB3 one states 5V 2.5A output.  SB3 states 5V 3A
output.
Is it safe to use the Touch PSU for the SB3?  I'm likely to leave it
permanently powered up.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

It is a bit odd, not much of a pattern as to when it fails.  This morning it 
failed half way through a track.  After it restarted, I played the track again, 
and it failed again, similar position through the song, but not the same.  I 
played it again, and it played for about an hour with no problems.

I think I have replaced the PSU already, many years ago.  Is it the same spec 
as a SB2, I can't remember.

I'll try wiggling the power cable, and replace the PSU if I can find a similar 
unit.  I might try refitting the Wifi card, or maybe I can move it near a 
powerline adaptor and run via ethernet for a while as a test.

try to just viggle the barrel conector it is also known to brake loose ,
if it reboots then you probably need to resolder the conector .
