Pretty sure my post didn't go through due to me being dumb and putting gigantic files in it. Sorry admins! Sorry if it did go through and this is a repeat I agree if we can't get a full blown summer program set up perhaps we can do something on a smaller scale to test activities on. We were approached last year about going to the Boyscouts jamboree hosted at KSU and perhaps doing something there, this might be an ideal test bed since it's a 3-day event with children of varying ages. G, while I appreciate your frustration in not having curricula in hand I urge you to have some patience. We will never foster an atmosphere of collaboration if every time someone has car trouble or doesn't immediately reply to an email we take over a project they volunteered to lead. I know Bethany put in a fair amount of time getting things ready for the IRS. There were also weekend meetings for a little bit but I was never able to attend due to school conflicts. I have attached the syllabus and the supporting document I had when we were finalizing our tax work(not attached due to file size. ask me at a meeting for them). I believe the drive behind developing our own program was due to the somewhat lack of coherent material available. There are myriad weekend and afternoon projects out there but none are structured in a way to supplement formal education or arranged to cover a whole branch of a STEM field. I think that was the goal for the Young Aristotles. Regarding target age I don't know, that really depends on activities we want to do as well as comfort levels of volunteers. Myself I see this aimed at middleschool aged students for the summer program though the activities could be adapted for elementary students as a supplementary lesson. In addition to what age do we want to teach. We should decide the scope of our lessons. Do we want to complement the things they have or will be studying in school? I like Becca's suggestion of consulting with others for advice. I'd say start simple. My version of simple - google for hackerspace curriculum or hackerspace workshop; analyze what's already out there; pick one format, stick with it for round1. I'm getting tired of 'Bethany has lesson plans' frankly. If she has something concrete, fine - that can be used if/when she shows up to share them But in her absence, we all can decide one simple format from an existing hackerspace or other organization that has experience with running workshops for younger students. Right about now, in my mind atleast, Torrie's SparkAK talk comes to mind - *Document, Document, Document* - to make sure that the organizing can continue by others. One example I found - Sparkfun has contributed curriculum - https://learn.sparkfun.com/resources In which someone from GirlScouts shared their Lilypad takehomekit as well as presentation: https://learn.sparkfun.com/resources/31 This is a very basic example. I'm sure there's plenty others out there. At Ingenuity last year 'make and take home' workshops were very well received. I'm sure they are planning them again this year. I have a few outlines I had Beth put together when we were finalizing the IRS stuff in the fall but my understanding was she had all the curriculum she had been working on and that there had been a few meetings to further develop materials since then. If this is not the case or we are unable to get in touch with Beth I think that baring joining up with apl or the schools it will be very hard to put everything together and advertise by the summer.
