I'm removing the 'su' files from shadow (login). An empty dummy
package for udevin Ceres is required too. Otherwise, debootstrap
will not work: libudev1.so exists in both udev and eudev.

Dear aitor,

this should be solved now, at least for amd64, and at least for the

ceres as we are working to update it to the current state in sid in

FTR, my Devuan Docker image builds[1] on 2018-11-03 went just fine.
Those are the first successful builds since 2018-07-04.

There are several issues with new rsyslog. We are working to upgrade

I uploaded the packages:

The base system installed successfully using

The issue in the "shadow" packages has been fixed in devuan, as i can
see. The next problem has been in the sysvinit packaging: even being the
host set to "deb.devuan.org" in the live-sdk, those packages were
download from "pkgmaster.devuan.org". The version of the downloaded
sysvinit was lower than 2.88dsf-59.4 (i don't know why, because
2.88dsf-59.9 is present in this host address), breaking therefore with
util-linux. I added the packaging of sysvinit-2.88dsf-59.9 to
packages.gnuinos.org/gnuinos, and the live-sdk moves on... until the
next obstacle: rsyslog.

rsyslog-8.31 builds successfully in amd64, but not in i386. I've had to

Hi KatolaZ,

alas, it doesn't! I already hinted at that in my previous message buried
deep in the thread with the inappropriate subject. As a minimal example
suitable for easy reproduction, on

  $ uname -srv ; lsb_release -irc
  Linux 4.18.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.18.6-1~bpo9+1 (2018-09-13)
  Distributor ID: Devuan
  Release: 2.0
  Codename: ascii

performing a simple

  $ sudo debootstrap --verbose ceres ./ceres  http://deb.devuan.org/merged

bails out while extracting util-linux_2.32.1-0.1+devuan1_amd64.deb, leaving
the following lines in debootstrap.log:

tar: ./bin/su: Cannot open: File exists
tar: ./etc/pam.d/su: Cannot open: File exists
tar: ./usr/share/man/man1/su.1.gz: Cannot open: File exists
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

So there clearly is some kind of inconsistency in present ceres which makes
debootstrap reproducible go belly-up.

HTH, best regards,
Urban

I'll endeavor to get that sorted in the next couple of days...

[DNG] util-linux needs an upgrade on ceres

2018-08-03 Thread Olaf Meeuwissen
My monthly Devuan Docker image rebuild bombed today on ceres[1]. The
base images for jessie, ascii and beowulf(!) built just fine.

Looking into this, I found this in the debootstrap.log

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of util-linux:
   login (1:4.5-1.1) breaks util-linux (<< 2.32-0.2~) and is installed.
Version of util-linux to be configured is 2.27.1-1+devuan0.1.

Looks like util-linux needs a bit of tender loving care on ceres.

Hope this helps,
