[docbook-apps] Preparing a stylesheet for HTML and PDF Output/ Stating the base.dir for HTML and PDF: How can you define the base.dir PDF, using the same relative path as used for HTML

2012-02-27 Thread daniel . keyes
Hey,

Currently we are finalizing our HTML stylesheet for DocBook. Since our
documents are to be released as HTML and PDF and our documentation
consists of about 20 different documents with more than 1000 pages total,
we need to find a way to state a relative path in our stylesheet as the
base.dir that will work out for both. We do not want to store all files,
PDF and HTML, in the same folder. What we need is a nice and easy way to
define where the output is to be stored.

For HTML we used xsl:param name=base.dir
select=concat($webhelp.base.dir,'/content/')/.
This won´t work for PDF.

We had a similar problem with the role attribute regarding screenshots
that had to be scaled differently according if we had a PDF or HTML output
, but we managed to define when to use what.

Is there any solution for our problem?

Greetings,

Daniel Keyes

[docbook-apps] DocBook at Google Summer of Code -- time to sign up as a mentor

2012-02-27 Thread Richard Hamilton
The window for sending in an application for the Google Summer of Code 2012 has
opened and applications will be accepted between now and March 9.

Stefan Seefeld and I have volunteered to be co-administrators for the DocBook
project, with XML Press (my company) as the organizational contact.

To create a winning application, we need to have mentors who are willing to
participate in the project.

If you think you might be interested, please head over to
http://docbook.xmlpress.net. There's information about the program, pointers to
Google's information about the program, and a place to sign up to be a mentor
(if you aren't already signed up to edit the wiki, please register; it only
takes a moment). You can also add ideas for projects to the projects page in
the wiki.

If you have any questions, feel free to send email to me or Stefan.

We will be assembling the application between now and March 5, and if we have
enough mentors to apply (3-4 should suffice), we will update the wiki and let
the community review the application before it is submitted.

Best Regards,
Dick Hamilton

[docbook-apps] Follow up on DocBook at Google Summer of Code

2012-02-27 Thread Richard Hamilton
If you tried to register at http://docbook.xmlpress.net in the last day or so
and the registration failed, please try again. A parameter got set incorrectly,
and that blocked new registrations. The problem should be fixed now.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
