[libreoffice-documentation] Re: LibreOffice Getting Started Guide

2020-03-08 Thread Pulkit Krishna
Hello Everybody,
I have reviewed Chapter 8 of getting started guide (Getting started with
base) and have uploaded it to the feedback folder. The chapter is showing
screenshots of Firebird database while captions are saying HSQLDB. The Base
Guide 6.2, which is currently under development, features HSQLDB for most
part. It just tells that there is also a firebird engine available and the
Appendix B tell different function of HSQLDB and Firebird and difference
between them. So I think this chapter should also be based on HSQLDB
database. I have left some questions in the comments. I have updated the
spreadsheet.

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: LibreOffice Base Documentation

2020-03-08 Thread Pulkit Krishna
Hello Jean,
I have deleted the first 2 paragraphs on which you commented in chapter 5
of Base Guide. But for your third comment on the note, the not is still
true. I have uploaded the file back to the draft folder and have updated
the spreadsheet.

I have reviewed Chapter 5, updated styles, and returned it to the

I have now taken Chapter 6 for first review.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Getting Started Guide for LO 6.4

2020-03-08 Thread Stephen Fanning
I have completed a first review of Appendix A (Keyboard Shortcuts) and
placed the updated document in the Feedback folder.

I am concerned about the section entitled "Shortcut keys for drawing
objects" (which only occupies one page). It is not an area that I am very
familiar with and was I unable to find / verify operation for many of the
shortcuts mentioned. This might be due to my unfamiliarity (most likely) or
could be due to inaccuracies in the section (less likely but not
impossible). Please could somebody who is familiar with this material give
the page a quick review?

Steve Fanning

I would agree with Cor. The "Help" facility, both on-line and local is a
set of HTML files viewed in a web browser and the web browser's
navigation controls are used.
So +1 to drop the "Esc" key from the "Getting Help" shortcut keys.

The old local installed 'built-in' Help, opens separate dialogs.
Usually, ESC closes a dialog, triggering Cancel. For the built-in Help,
that is not relevant. So ESC does not close the dialog. Neither does it
go up one level (assuming that is meant back to a previous visited page,
or up to chapter level from paragraph).

Unless someone else comes up with a description that makes sense and
adds something to the user experience (I can't remember using ESC in the
browser), I would suggest to leave that part out.
