[libreoffice-documentation] Status of Getting Started Guide
With the "festive season" upon us (even if we can't travel), I don't expect to see any further work being done on the GS Guide - though it would be welcome if someone isn't otherwise occupied and wants to work on it. Two chapters are still checked out for updating; I hope to see a first draft in early January. Many other chapters are awaiting a second review. I hope everyone is well and stays well. I live in a safe place, so I'm not going anywhere in the next few months. Peter, This chapter is now in the WiP folder for Getting Started Guide, ready for you to accept or reject my changes and suggestions. Much of what I've done is to make the formatting and wording of the chapter more compatible with the rest of the book. Other reviewers should wait until Peter has a chance to go through this chapter, before doing a second review. Being an open source volunteer project we do not assign tasks to contributors. We ask them to look for aspects of the various sections of the LibreOffice documentation where they believe their skills may be usefully employed. As a general rule (not law) we discuss with or advise the other team members what we wish to work on via the mailing list. This often produces useful feedback or guidance for new contributors. If you would like to speak with our "Slave Driver" :)) oops I mean "Team Leader" Olivier Hallot and some other regular members of the docs team, we hold a bi-weekly on line team meeting: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Meetings The contributor guides are currently in a state of flux, but you should find sufficient information about joining the team in the "Help produce documentation" section of our wiki here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation Best Regards Dave -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: documentation+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/documentation/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

Hi reader, I'm a satisfied user of LO, since seven years now. Focus on base and programming macros, some of them written in python. The question of this mail is: * can you assign me to the right team / tasks? * is the contribution driven by the needs of the documentation team, or can initiatives of the volunteer be granted as well? I noticed that (base) python programming is less abundant, in usage and documentation. I'm willing to contribute and add documentation on this subject. Regarding skills, i am 64, retired and not educated as a programmer, though with a background in engineering and some programming languages. Looking forward to what you believe can be a suitable area to work on. kind regards peter heijink -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: documentation+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/documentation/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

However I have added many comments for consideration. The previously updated chapter has been move to the "Archives" folder and "2-ProducingLOGuides-PS-RL-PS-DB-20201222.odt" is now in the WIP folder: https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/s/7kRae4WJ4w57tRH Regards Dave -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: documentation+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/documentation/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Fwd: [libreoffice-l10n] Suggestion for workflow modification : a new directory "Prepared for translation" with "cleaned" files
Hi Martin, thank you for returning back to the issue! Meanwhile I've thought a lot about "labor division" in the case of cleaning. Perhaps it would be best if the manual style cleaning (as described on https://github.com/milossramek/translation-scripts/tree/master/odtclean) would become one of the duties of the author, who prepares the published files (but the list of their duties is already quite long now) and preparation of the files in the Cleaned directory by running the script (once a guide is published) would be a task for somebody else (me for now). I think that it should not be among the author's duties, since I think that running a python script on Windows for a non-developer is not an easy task (I would, e. g. install the Windows-for-Linux subsystem and install Ubuntu there :D ). If we agree to add the "Cleaned" directory (in my text below I suggested "Prepared for translation", but "Cleaned is perhaps better), I would create it in the 7.0 version of the Calc guide and Math guide, which are already published, and do both the manual and script cleaning.
