[Dorset] Introducing myself

2009-11-17 Thread Dan Dart
Hi LUGs

I am Dan Dart, and I am the current administrator of the Glastonbury LUG.

I am primarily a LAMP developer, and second, a GNU Linux administrator.

I felt it was necessary to introduce myself around, since I have a few years
experience with Linux et al. So I can offer help when it's needed usually,
even if I cannot make it to your meetings.

Cheers

[Dorset] apache https and http

2009-11-17 Thread Tim Allen
Hi

I currently have an Apache2 server set up for https access, with
.htaccess password authentication. I'd like it to also be accessible via
http, without any password authentication (port 80 is behind a
firewall). Can anyone advise how best to do this, preferably with the
least amount of config file block duplication.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Dan,

Welcome aboard!

I believe that relatively few people on the list make the meets, myself
included, so you are alone there.

The list is generally relatively low-volume compared to say, Hants, but
it does occasionally fire up, not literally I might add!

index.html in var/www is accessible by default from Port 80. You might have
to configure your router for port forwarding.
