Thanks for the insights Terry, that's useful because this is my first time using Gantt charting software. I probably don't need any of those fancy features for my project but I will keep it in mind. Whenever I needed something like this, I always went for Taskjuggler ( https://taskjuggler.org/ ). It definitely has quite a steep learning curve but it's very powerful. That said, I am most definitely not a professional project manager (or even a decent amateur one). The fact that it had no GUI and you express all the data and constraints in a DSL appealed to my way of thinking.
