Re: [Dorset] Rejected emails

2016-09-11 Thread C Wills

Thanks to all those who replied.
Ralphs email sorted it out and for some reason things reset themselves a
few hours later. Only affected 1 persons emails and in funny ways, so
lucky.

To me it looks as if his address has been 'Black Listed' by GMX or is it
my address causing the problem?

It's your IP address from a quick look. You email to the list was
received from 195.26.90.65 which is a similar address to the
195.26.90.71 it complains about and both are allocated to the same
organisation according to WHOIS. The lug.org.uk spam rating added 1.0
points because "195.26.90.65 listed in bl.csma.biz" blacklist.

I'd say you have your MUA, Thunderbird?, configured to make a direct
SMTP connection instead of using a "smart host" provided by your ISP
that delivers the email for you.

Cheers, Ralph.

Looking on the GMX Website explained each code but I'm not sure I know
which IP they mean has been black listed, me or him?

I don't think that they would blacklist one of their own IP addresses :-) But
who knows.

Talking to him he's had trouble since GMX changed operations from USA to
Germany. As he has just got back from holiday the only emails he's got
have been from 'logging on' on the Web using his phone. Could this have
caused the problem?

He should get in touch with the GMX administrator and get them to sort it out
toot sweet. Whether the blacklisted IP is yours or his, neither should be, so
they either need to change their DNSBL or sort out their own blacklist. They
mention both at the link.

According to MXTools (www.mxtoolbox.com) mx00.gmx.net is not blacklisted
and the smtp function is working correctly.

Using email dossier (http://centralops.net/co/emaildossier.aspx) and
checking the email address listed above it validates the address against
the gmx smtp and comes out as OK, (if the email address is blocked it
wil tell you).

If you google what's my IP and then on the mxtoolbox page, click on the
Blacklists tab and then enter the IP address it will show you what black
list (if any) the IP address is blocked by. You have to register on the
mxtoolbox site if you want more details of the blacklisting and how to
clear.

Hope this helps

Tim
