[DQSD-Users] 2.5.8 beta 9
ok, here's a strange one... on Friday at work on a win2k, i.e. 6 machine, i closed 2.5.8 beta 8 and logged off/on then i installed and opened 2.5.8 beta 9 i had no problems.dqsd ran fine. todaywhen i turned my pc on the text areafor the toolbar was the samegray color as my taskbar and i was unable to type in it. after several closes/reboots/reinstalls the only thing i could get to work was to reinstall 2.5.8 beta8. any ideas? thanks, JB

Could you try removing the window.close() from version.js and seeing if the problem still occurs? RE: [DQSD-Users] 2.5.8 beta 9
I am having what I *think* is the same problem. I couldn't get the calendar to open (I got an error message "Line: 121; Char: 5; Error: Class not registered; Code: 0; URL: file://C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar\search.htm"), so I tried running "regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar\dqsdt258.dll", which seemed to work, but as it didn't fix the problem I decided to try restarting. After that, the text box in the quick search toolbar just doesn't show up at all (the toolbar is empty). RE: [DQSD-Users] 2.5.8 beta 9
Oops. Same here. Once I rebooted again, I had to close and open the toolbar (a couple of times actually) to get it to work. On the bright side, at least it's not totally broken. BTW, I am also on a Win2K, IE6 machine. Sarah -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of John W. What happens if you do a 'refresh' on DQSD, or enter a ! to restart it? Do you get a warning then? Is the DQSDTools.dll on a 'funny' drive, like a network one, or one which is mapped at login? I can't really see how that window.close gets called without you getting a message before hand - unless some other mechanism is suppressing alerts. Does anyone else have any suggestions on this? Are you saying it worked _after_ you'd done regsvr32 -u dqsdt258.dll? If so, there's something very strange going on. Doing regsvr32 -u dqsdt258.dll should unregister the tools DLL, which should mean that the next time DQSD starts up (whether by doing toolbar refresh, '1' or rebooting) you get a polite error message about it not being installed correctly. I only suggested it as a test, rather than as a potential remedy. Are you saying it worked _after_ you'd done regsvr32 -u dqsdt258.dll? aah, i did the unregister of the 258 dll and then ran the beta 9 install. then i rebooted and it worked through one reboot. hoping that would be the solution, i decided to try through a second reboot to be sure, but no luck. ___ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink ___ Dqsd-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601

should we consider pulling beta 9 for a bit? I don't think so - there's no point in beta-ing it if you don't use the feedback to find the bugs. b8 is available for download if people can't use b9. Agreed. I've got some more clues... The VersionIsCorrect method appears to be not handling an exception. I wrapped the body of the method with try { ... }catch (...) { return E_FAIL; } and the search bar shows up after getting the The DQSD helper DLL is out of date message box which I wasn't getting before. I did a little bit of testing and it appears to be a problem with the LoadResource() call. Not sure, but I don't have time to test it now. I'll look at it later tonight if I have a chance. ___ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink ___ Dqsd-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601
