Hi Terry,

There is no place for flaming in these lists. Ham lists are a forum for
sharing information and for gently dispelling ignorance. We all came
into the world knowing absolutely nothing, and we continue to add to our
knowledge bank by many means, hopefully until we leave this world.

I graduated (with good grades) in Electrical Engineering in the mid
sixties, but am continually amazed at the depth of knowledge and
experience so willing shared by people in these lists. I am less
ignorant as a result. The motto of my university is "Ancora imparo"
attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. It means, "I am still learning."

With many thanks to all the guys and gals who have helped me enjoy this
great hobby more fully.

[drakelist] TR-6

2006-07-18 Thread K7OV

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a service manual
for the Drake TR-6 and if so, where can I purchase one or download one? I have
a very nice one with a minor S-Meter problem I want to repair and would like a
little help with parts layout etc.

Thanks,

Mike - K7OV

2006-06-30 Thread K7OV

Hi all,

I am not sure I am using the correct email address to send
this to the group, but here goes.

My TR-6 has a problem where the S-Meter has come up to half
scale with the Zero pot all the way down. It seems to have good sensitivity,
and does not seem to be related to the RF Gain control, but who knows. Really
strong station cause the meter to bounce upward, but not much. I replaced the
tubes in that section with know good tubes from my TR-4 but it does not help
the problem. I left the rig on over night and when I came in the next morning
the condition had developed, so I may be a change in component value. Has
anyone run into this before?

Best,

Hi Keith,

I am presently using the Heil Goldline mic and using it mostly with the HC 5
element selected. I get excellent audio reports. I have used the Shure D-104
with the crystal element as well with not so good audio reports. Most say it
is too tinny. If you use the any mic, the one thing you have to be sure of
is that it is a high impedance mic. I had to add the Heil impedance
transformer to use the Goldline mic.

I would like to ask the group for some advise
concerning a microphone for my T-4XC? Has anyone tried
using the Heil GM Vintage microphone? What do you use?

If you think it a hoax or nonsense, why don't you write the University of
Rhode Island and ask about him and the exact patent name to search under?

This guys BS has been circulating for a couple of years now. It's alchemy
so don't hold your breath. It's best to listen to people who know something
about what they are talking about. Remember, there is no free lunch and if
it's too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. (It all comes
down to efficient matching, efficient loading coils and efficient vertical
top hats and efficient grounds). (This is just another Cold Fusion type
story. Too bad 73 isn't around anymore, This would be right up their
alley).
