We unfortunately don't have enough information to help you.

Have you checked your log files to see if any errors occurred during the 
indexing? What version of DSpace are you using?  Additionally, please be aware 
that PDFs must already have the text embedded, so image based PDFs are not 
possible to index in DSpace at this time.

You can also run the "filter-media" command in verbose mode (-v) to see exactly 
what text it is able to extract.  This can be useful to debug whether it is 
able to get any text from a specific PDF document.  Again, see the

Hi Richard,

At this time, DSpace does not have an out-of-the-box document viewer.  There 
are a number of external solutions listed on that page that might be installed 
alongside DSpace (or you might be able to customize your DSpace to use such a 
solution).  Unfortunately, we don't have installation instructions available on 
the wiki yet for any of these options.

Hopefully, if someone on this list has already integrated a third-party 
document viewer into DSpace locally they'd be willing to share their 
experiences.

I have a problem.

I am running DSpace 6.3 on a Linux based platform running Oracle.
I have 100's of digital objects (pdf and TIFF) larger than 50 megs in size, 
upwards to 100 pages

Currently, when a user visits our website they are forced to download the file 
to be view on their workstation.

We are looking for a solution that will enable our users the ability to view 
the object on our web site in a page viewer layout

[dspace-tech] Custom Themes

Hi,

I'm following the documentation for making a custom theme in dspace
version 5.3. When I rebuild from local source code, the new theme does
not show up in the webapps/xmlui directory.


I've created a new theme in the following location:
dspace-source/dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/themes

Inside the new theme I create the sitemap.xmap file

Then the documentation says to rebuild and deploy the webapp, but my
new theme doesn't appear in the webapps area.

What am I missing.

It helps, Thank you so much. I am able to customize the emails now.

However I have issue configuring email services using gmail on the Ubuntu
Server. I have Dspace 6.3 installed on an Ubuntu Server and another
installed on Windows 10 OS. The email services works perfectly fine on the
Dspace installed on Windows 10 OS however the one installed  on Ubuntu
Server 15.05 does not work. Can you assist me on this too?

Both Dspace application has the same Dspace.cfg file and configurations.
