[dspace-tech] How i can make compatible my repository with openAIRE compliance? DSpace 5.x

i was researching on whether it is necessary to perform some kind of 
special configuration on dspace.

But I only found in the documentation this link:

I understand that I should standardize the values ​​in the input forms, 
according to the openAire directive. But just it?

Another question is if it is possible to configure the OAI service to 
provide metadata in the openAIRE standard and driver without major problems?


If anyone can give me a light on this. Thank you!

[dspace-tech] Dspace can search inside files?

Hello guys, I was looking for a way to improve dspace search and was 
looking for something.

I have not found anything sure that dspace has a support of reading files 
pdf or html for example, to create indexes based on content of this files.

I know there is a paid google service called *GSA *that reads ex: .doc and 
.pdf files that does it.

[dspace-tech] Should I upgrade my DSpace?

Currently we use version 5.x of dspace and how much should I upgrade to 
version 6.x? Or should I expect REST version 7.x?
I realize that the architectural change is considerable because they use 
Hibernate and the removal of some resources. 
Is the upgrade process favorable to version 5.x? 
Remembering also that specific features have been built to meet the needs 
of our organization. 
Some features that I believe are favorable even for the communities and in 
the near future I will share with the community when I have time.

Currently a company is developing a mobile application based on our api in 
dspace 5.x. 
But i think that the currently resources of pagination do not supply all 
resources of pagination to app  works in 100%.

I found a inconsistency in metadata that do references an identifier uri. 
After of a our necessity change IP / DNS of application.

The our old configuration in *dspace.cfg *and others configuration files 
the properties *HOST / URL / HANDLE *was something like this:

*dspace.hostname *= www.dns.org
*dspace.baseUrl* = http://www.dns.org
*dspace.url *= http://www.dns.org
*handle.canonical.prefix* = http://www.dns.org/handle/

So we removed the prefix *www *after this change many metadata was 
registred with *dc.identifier.uri:* with old value prefix *"www"*.

It is possible solve this by indexation?

Many metadata was collected by oai service, in this case.

*External:*
How this is dynamic the service can re-create the index of this collections 
and create new metadata values, specific generating a new value to 
dc.identifier.uri > based on new configs described.

[dspace-tech] Re: Dspace problem on import bitstream from saf

I checked the file encoding that was in utf-8 and i altered it to utf-8 
without BOM and it worked.

I was using SAFbuilder an external application to generate metadatas and 
bitstreams in large scale to import directly to dspace. But specific in 
files with whitespaces it was returning the file contents in ANSI encoding. 
So i altered the SAFbuilder to save the file contents in utf-8 and  solved 
the problem. :D

I have a private collection, that just a specific  group users can access. 
So i want that OAI service ignore this specific collection and not display 
yours records and metadatas, etc.

[dspace-tech] Problem to harvest a collection from a external repository.

i'm trying harvest a collection from a external repository by OAI service, 
but when i try ping the url by terminal  or test the configurations harvest 
in module xmlui:

I tested too, in others environments dspace without proxy and including in

[dspace-tech] Issue with importing metadata.

I'm trying import metadatas but the dspace import just a part.

The CSV file contains 7275 lines but 439 lines are not imported. 

And when i try import the 439 lines in a separate file the system returns 
this message:
 
  "*There were no changes detected*". But the file data of 439 lines is 
different.

 
How to solve this?

If a repository has a metadata pattern different from mine what should I do?

I know that dspace uses dc (dublin-core) and there are classes that 
translate metadata from other patterns to the standard that dspace 
understands (dc).

I have a big problem in my repository, there are several items classified 
as "other" (dc.type) and I need to categorize them according to their type 
of media.

Example:

if bitstream format= 
  
   .mp4
   .mpeg
   .avi

set dc.type = *video*

if bitstream format= 
  
   .pdf
   .text
   .doc

set dc.type = *text*

if bitstream format= 
  
   .png
   .jpeg
   .gif

set dc.type =* image*

etc...

How to do this for internal collections and collections collected 
externally via harvest?
