Hi Claudia, i was looking for the i18n file at the google code dspace-sandbox but couldn't find a correct one. did you mean http://code.google.com/p/dspace-sandbox/source/browse/modules/dspace-xmlui-lang/trunk/src/main/webapp/i18n/messages_de.xml ? i think this file is not ok (when i watch the file in the browser with utf-8 setting). if there is no correct version, i offer my help and do the corrections, but i guess this work has already been done... michael -- Dipl.- Ing. Thanks George and Sri, i have experimented a bit but could not fix it. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with the database as the problem also occurs in text that was not in touch with the db. i looked in web.xml (that of dspace-xmlui\dspace-xmlui-webapp\src\main\webapp\WEB-INF\web.xml) but the code there was already like George suggested: container-encoding ISO-8859-1 form-encoding UTF-8 i also tried newer versions from svn (1.5.0 beta1 and beta2) but without success... thanks so far, michael -- Dipl.- Ing.
