[DSTAR_DIGITAL] Re: ID-1 DD using a Mac ?
John, Thanks for the detailed setting info. I finally got it right, after finding that the Ip addy and DNS address had to be 10.0.0.9 for the HIRANO Gateway repeater. The connection is slow...to be expected, but I'm posting this now through my ID-1, JP3YHJ repeater and JP3YHH DD machine. Interesting Thanks to all. So, Japanese gateway does not support to transfer/receive the packet of DD mode. Satoshi

Hi Greg, We don't see the use of zones much here in the US. But my Guess would be. UR: JP3YHH ? <-- You'll have to figure out the module letter based on setup there. RPT1: JP3YHJ ? RPT2: JP3YHH G Since you mentioned your need for help on network configuration. You will need to go to System Preferences (Icon) and open the application. Under network and Internet, select Network Under Location, Create a new location (edit), name it something like "D-STAR" Set your location to the new location Select "Ethernet" Configure it "manually" IP Address - the one assigned to you 10.x.x.x Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 Router: 10.0.0.1 DNS: 10.0.0.1 Search Domains: "leave blank" "Apply" Turn off airport. (So you don't go over WiFi and think you are connected via D-STAR) If you open a terminal, and type ifconfig, you should see en0 with your IP address and the proper default route. Now try pinging 10.0.0.1, if you get a response, the Mac to Gateway over DD is working. To return to "normal" operation with your Mac go back to your Network screen and change the location back to Automatic and "Apply", turn Airport back on. Just thinking here Greg. First and foremost, the repeater system must include a Data Repeater Module (OK, not a repeater but a regenerator). This is a different box from the DV repeater and uses a simplex discrete frequency. For example, on K5CTX DV is on 1292.1 and mobile TX on 1272.1. DD is on 1253.0 simplex. This may be taken for granted, but just in case, be sure there is a DD node at the repeater site. 73, steve nu5d jo3slk wrote: > Thanks, Ed > > The Calculator wasn't much help in trying to set up a my ID-1 for a DD > connection to JP3YHJ (1.2G DD mode) and JP3YHH that has the Internet > connection...unless I just don't understand how to use it. > -- Belton Ham Expo - The Cheapest Hamfest around. RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Re: ID-1 DD using a Mac ?
There is nothing special about a Mac vs a PC when it comes to setting up the ID-1, they are the same when using DD. As John mentioned, it's just an Ethernet bridge. To setup the radio, check out the settings that the D-STAR Calculator gives you at www.DSTARINFO.com<http://www.DSTARINFO.com> and choose Calculator at the top. Once the radio is setup, the computer needs to be set at the IP address associated with your terminal when you registered your callsign. The gateway should be set to 10.0.0.1 and the netmask set to 255.0.0.0. That's about it. Notice that the Duplex setting is not + or - or Simplex, it is RPS. If you do not have a repeater and just using two ID-1s to talk to each other, first setup the computers to talk to each other over when plugged into a switch. Then remove from the switch and plug into the ID-1 Ethernet connectors.
