[DX-CHAT] Antennas by Mosley Electronics, Inc.
http://www.mosley-electronics.com/page%20files/catalog.htm Ron I believe you can easily figure out what antenna you have. Bring up this web site, scroll to HF Multi-band Beams. Look at the descriptions and in particular the length of the booms. The TA-33 of old had a boom of about 14 feet . The CL-33 had a 33 foot boom. Both were tri-banders. At least you will be able to get the correct manual. Regards, Leon, (K2EWB) --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list. [DX-CHAT] VP6DX Ducie Island 2008 :: News
Attention: John and Dave. Click on the below link. It should take you to the News option on the VE6DX Web Site. Read News release #29. It's all about the status of their QSLing and the procedure to be followed if you have not as yet requested your cards and or LoTW for your callsign. Also there is a separate paragraph with a special E-mail address to write to if you have requested QSL's and/or LoTW, but have received nothing by November 1st. The News release is dated approximately one month ago. Good Luck getting your Confirmations, 73, Leon, K2EWB http://ducie2008.dl1mgb.com/news/index.php John and All, I saw your post earlier, which reminded me I had never requested mine (or donated either). Sort of dumb on my part since I worked them on 20 band slots! I also had the opportunity at Dayton to see the QSL they are sending out--It's both unique and exceptionally well made. It's actually a booklet, complete with pictures, etc. Anyway, your email kicked me in the butt, and I realized I had better get it done. I went to their website, followed the procedures outlined, including making an appropriate donation, and everything seems to have gone through perfectly. I made the donation via paypal. Here's the process: 1. Go to www.vp6dx.com 2. click on the online QSL request 3. Enter your callsign in the popup window 4. Fill in the requested data from your log on the screen that appears and click next 5. A screen will now show a summary of the QSO's you entered, and has supposedly been saved to their database for verification. At this point you need to decide if you want a QSL sent directly or not. If you do, you need to go through the remainder of the process to request it, including arranging for your donation. You could also send it by mail, but that will take longer. But if you don't use PayPal, I guess that's your only choice. I don't know what the problem is that you incurred trying to contact them, but I can imagine that they are inundated with various requests. Accordingly, I would urge you to you their automatic process (as I did), and then just wait it out. You should get a receipt from PayPal, so by keeping a copy of the list of QSO's you get in response to making your entries, I would think you could eventually get your QSL if some glitch prevents that otherwise. I also think that going the donation route (it's only a $5 minimum) might expedite your request. I remember early on that it was clearly indicated that those who donated would get preference as to timing. I just hope my waiting so long didn't put me completely out of the preferential process. Hope this gives you some encouragement. Re: [DX-CHAT] VS9 7O Question for old timers
Hi Urb, Perhaps the following info will be of some help: I had a QSO with VS9AAA on 13 April 1963. The card says R.A.F. Steamer Point, Aden. VS9A, P, S, were used until the end of 1967. Thereafter the prefix was 7O. I later referred to it at 7O old in my rewords. May 21, 1990 is DXCC's last date for counting the old 7O. On May 22, 1990 a new 7O was and still is being accepted. My first contact with a New 7O was on 28 May 1990 with 701AA. I've re-read your E-mail and I think I'm just confirming what you already knew. I've Googled Aden and copied some information that might give you some additional Information, as follows: History of South Yemen Before 1959, the British interests in South Arabia consisted of : a.. the Colony of Aden b.. the Protectorat of Aden On 11 February 1959 was created the Federation of South Arabian Emirates. On 4 April 1962 the Federation was enlarged and renamed Federation of South Arabia. There remained a Protectorate of South Arabia. The colony of Aden entered the Federation (as State of Aden) on 18 January 1963. Independence was scheduled for 1968, but the NLF and FLOSY, urban guerrilla movements based in Aden, objected to the city's being placed under the rule of absolute monarchs, forced an early British withdrawal in November 1967, and established the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (commonly known as South Yemen). (The exact date is November 30 1967.) One of the locations discussed in this article is Aden (VS9A/P/S). The British left Aden in 1967 and it was absorbed into the newly-formed Republic of South Yemen, which later became the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen with the prefix 7O. (The Feb. 1970 CQ DX column carried the announcement of the adoption of the 7O prefix for the Republic of South Yemen). Around the same time, the Yemen Arab Republic was also formed, with the prefix of 4W. The two merged in 1990 to form a new Republic of Yemen, which continued using only the 7O prefix. There are a few things that don't add up, and as helpful as Bill Moore at ARRL has been, it appears the currently available records are not detailed enough to answer our questions. We are hoping that some of you will have good memories and be able to help... I have had access to back issues of CQ, but not QST (from these dates), and have come up with the following info: ... in 1961 and 62, the All Asian DX Contest rules (as published in CQ's DX column, then written by W2DEC) list both Aden and Yemen as countries in Asia. ... the ARRL DXCC list's deleted entities chart shows VS9A/P/S People's Democratic Republic of Yemen with an end-date of May 22, 1990 (the date the two Yemens merged), even though, as far as I can determine, the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen never used the VS9 prefix, but rather 7O. ... there is no mention on the DXCC list of Aden, which appears to have been listed as the country name for VS9A (at least in CQ) throughout the 60s and well into the 70s. ... there is a listing there for 4W / Yemen Arab Republic, with the same end-date of 5/22/90; yet there is no listing for pre-1990 7O contacts with South Yemen (the active 7O listing allows only contacts on or after 5/22/90). ... the CQ WAZ list for Zone 21, as late as 1976, listed VS9 (except Maldives and Socotra) and 4W, but no 7O. ... a 1971 description in CQ of countries eligible for the Arabian Knights Certificate included 4W and VS9, but no 7O. ... the latest QSL cards W4YO could locate for Aden/VS9 are from 1967, the year in which the British left and it became part of the Republic of S. Yemen. The questions we'd like to try to answer include... ... When did the country name for VS9A, etc. change from Aden to the Republic of South Yemen /or People's Democratic Republic of Yemen? ... When did the 7O prefix actually come into use, since it was announced in early 1970 but VS9 listings continued at least until mid-decade and the DXCC deleted entity list doesn't even acknowledge it prior to 1990? And along the same lines, when did the VS9 prefix stop being used? ... Why didn't the DXCC list reflect the change of status of Aden in 1967? Can any of you help us shed some light on any of this, preferably with first-hand recollections? Many thanks in advance for anything you may be able to remember. Vy 73 tnx to W2DEC for forwarding

Founded by Lester Cushman in the 40’s and starting out in a Hayward St. Garage, the Manchester NH company has grown steadily over the years, diversifying into a wide range of antenna markets to include wireless LAN, WiFi, RFID, WiMAX and more. Last year, Cushcraft enjoyed annual revenues totaling over $33 million with an operating profit of $8.9 million. The company, which nearly tripled sales over the past 3 years, has been one of few to successfully outsource a large percentage of its annual production without the loss of a single domestic job. According to a company spokesperson, the Manchester facility at 48 Perimeter Road will be key to Laird’s expanding strength in engineering and RF product design.
