  [datetime] Standard alarms are not work correctly for Timers, after
  timezone/DST change

  Incomplete
Status in Timer:
  Confirmed
Status in Ubuntu Clock App:
  Incomplete
Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Standard alarms will not work correctly after changing timezone and
  during DST change.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install Timer from Store: https://uappexplorer.com/app/timer.mivoligo
  2. Set timer to 5 minutes
  3. Open Clock app. Look for alarm, and notice that alarm is correctly set
  3. Switch to System Settings -> Time & Date -> Time zone:
  4. Change Time zone to something different (eg. New York). (Or wait for DST
change: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time)

  Expected behaviour:
  - timer ringing as expected after timezone/DST change

  Current behaviour:
  - alarm is not ringing. (you could check active alarms in "Ubuntu Clock app)

  Proposal solution:
  - introduce new type of alarms, which is based on UTC
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time) and independent from
time zones.
  - This alatms will not be visible in applications which is using standard
alarms (Ubuntu Clock, Ubuntu Calendar etc.)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1480200] Re: indicator-datetime starting ringing almost immediately if timer is set in current minute

2016-01-19 Thread Pat McGowan
@michael yeah so all of that make using the alarm api for this seem like
the wrong approach, and we should provide a proper timer api.

For example see
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/CountDownTimer.html
or perhaps
https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSTimer_Class/
or in the meantime uses Qt timers
http://doc.qt.io/qt-4.8/timers.html

I would think to start requiring the app in the foreground is ok for the
timer use case, but yeah would like something fancier

The bug should still be fixed.

2016-01-19 Thread Jan Groenewald
Hi

Unfortunately I don't have a 15.10 to test right now.

Attached is a screenshot from a working system where the proxy is set.
If there is only a PAC file set (dash > network > proxy > autoconfigure)
then the drop-down menu in my attached screenshot does not show, and no
additional location can be added, even by typing all of it in.

Jan

  That has various benefits, counting the two more important:
  1. Only need to supply one theme between Ambiance/Radiance whatever.
  2. It's way easier to deal with situations like when the unity dash is
opened, and icons should turn white: you just need to set the white color and
it'll be recolored.

  This may depend on bug 599448.

Bug description:
  Currently in ./src/wakeup-timer-mainloop.cpp
  the g_timeout_add_full function is used to call intervals:

  const auto now = m_clock->localtime();
  const auto difference_usec =
g_date_time_difference(m_wakeup_time.get(), now.get());
  const guint interval_msec = std::abs(difference_usec) / 1000u;

  m_timeout_tag = g_timeout_add_full(G_PRIORITY_HIGH,
 interval_msec,
 on_timeout,
 this,
 nullptr);
  More information:

https://developer.gnome.org/glib/stable/glib-The-Main-Event-Loop.html#g-timeout-add-full

  The grouping of timers to fire at the same time results in a more power and
CPU efficient behavior
  That's why I would recommend to use:
 g_timeout_add_seconds_full ()
  instead

  imported google calendar events sound when they shouldn't

Status in Canonical System Image:

Status in Ubuntu Calendar App:

Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I use the calendar-app with my work google calendar. For that calendar
  I have alarms setup to automatically send an email 24 hours, 4 hours
  and 30 minutes before any event and I choose email as the reminder (as
  opposed to popup) so that I wouldn't be bombarded with reminders all
  day. Unfortunately the calendar app does not make a distinction
  between email and popup and every event with an email reminder gets
  imported as an event that gets an event notification on the phone with
  an alarm sound. I have a lot of events in my calendar and so my phone
  is constantly making noise at all times of the day. This is
  particularly annoying at night time since I might get a reminder as
  early as 3am or 4am, which wakes me up. Of course, I could use silent
  mode at night, but, like last night, I forgot and was awoken at 6am.
  Plus, I don't necessarily want the phone in silent mode-- I'd like to
  be able to hear if a phone call comes in since that is likely an
  emergency call I need to take.

  There are a lot of different bugs related to calendar event
  notifications and if some of them were fixed, it would ameliorate this
  bug. For example, I've been hoping for a setting to disable sounds for
  just the calendar (whether via the app or system settings) but
  otherwise get calendar notifications. Being able to change the alarm
  sound to 'None' would work too. TBH at this point I don't care which
  bug is fixed, I need to get this phone to stop sounding off
  constantly.

  WORKAROUND:
  1. download https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Silence.ogg to
/home/phablet
  2. use gsettings to adjust the sound:
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/ringtones/Marimbach.ogg'
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound /home/phablet/Silence.ogg
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/home/phablet/Silence.ogg'

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1529499] Re: Allow fast switching between timezones

2016-01-19 Thread Charles Kerr
This is possible in the desktop form of indicator-datetime but is
currently not in the design for the phone form, likely due to lack of
space.

It's probably a Design question on how this might be improved, on the
phone, either via the indicator or in system settings, so reassigning to
mpt for feedback.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1515821] Re: Recurring Evolution events not shown as coming events in clock's menu

A recurring event like this can clutter the calendar if there are no
other events in the calendar as well; however, I don't see any
discussion of this in the spec so I don't know if Design considered this
case. Reassigning to mpt.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1515821] Re: Recurring Evolution events not shown as coming events in clock's menu

2016-01-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I did not consider this case. It would be extremely rare, since the list
should include only events for the selected day, and events hardly ever
repeat more than once a day.

But as long as the overall maximum number of events is adhered to, I
don't think it's a problem that the list might include multiple
occurrences of the same event. On the contrary, if they are omitted, you
might not realize that some other event clashes with a recurrence.

Specification updated.

Bug description:
  I've recently upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS to 14.04 LTS. I've
  noticed, that the mail icon (indicator-messages) is hidden (I don't
  use Thunderbird, so it is not installed.)

  I know, that it is hidden, because I'm using GMail Notifier, which
  displays itself if new mail has arrived, and it works.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1510055] Re: indicator-datetime hangs on changing or adding a location when proxy set to pac file

2016-01-19 Thread Charles Kerr
Jan,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Are you still seeing this issue in 15.10? If so, could
you please describe in more detail the hang you're seeing in the
indicator; eg, what parts of the indicator I should be looking at to see
the freeze?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1515821] Re: Recurring Evolution events not shown as coming events in clock's menu

Not sure what you mean by that, Matthew. The case which made me observe
this bug was an event which recur every fourth week. The list shows the
next five events (or so) from the day you select, and it's certainly not
limited to events for the selected day. When selecting a day soon before
the day of the second (or third...) instance of the recurring event, it
was simply skipped.

I have been using the event list in the clock as a planning tool for a
while, and because of this bug I was about to forget about this
recurring event.

I now see that the limitation to "for the selected day" you mention was
added on 2015-05-11 in revision 100 of the specifitation. It hasn't been
implemented yet AFAICT for regular events.

Personally I consider this change to the spec. to be an important
regression bug, and for me it's going to make the list more or less
useless as a planning tool.

I would strongly suggest that the spec is changed again, so the list is
designed to show "the next five calendar events, if any" as was the case
before revision 100.
