[Dx4win] FM Martinique, or FM, the Mode

2003-01-26 Thread Frank Grossman (WB2BXO)
Noticed an amusing problem last evening; when I highlighted FM5CW, spotted
on 7005, right clicked, then selected listen, my IC-765 on Com 2 went to the
frequency, but in FM mode! I've noticed this a few times before with spots
for Martinique, but corrected the problem at the front panel and forgot
about it.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a known fix or workaround?

[Dx4win] UN_submitting for WAS

2003-01-26 Thread Larry Gauthier
I have been a ham for a long time, but have never applied for any of the =
WAS awards (being mostly a DX kinda' guy). However, two months ago I got =
serious about finishing 5B-WAS, and am getting pretty close to being =
done. I have WAS on three modes (RTTY, CW, phone) and only need 7 more =
QSL cards to have all 50 states on all 5 bands. So, my plan for the =
pilgrimage to the local WAS-card-checker will be to apply for =
simultaneous 5B-WAS and WAS RTTY/CW/PHONE.

Unfortunately, while looking at the WAS awards menu last week, I =
selected Reports, Was, Submission. Now the WAS listing is filled =
with the letter S in the chart's MIX, RTTY, PHONE, CW, and 10M =
columns. Since I don't intend to file a submission until I get those =
last 7 cards, how can I undo the submission listing? Are the records =
for those QSOs all tagged as the WAS submission? What if I want to use =
other QSO's cards when it's 5B-WAS time? Will it even matter when I get =
all of the cards for 5B-WAS and select 5B-WAS submission?

[Dx4win] FM Martinique, or FM, the Mode

2003-01-26 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Frank, it's because the country prefix (FM) was in the spot comment field,
and DX4WIN interpreted this as the mode.

There is no work-around except to to shut off this particular feature of
your spotting node.

[Dx4win] Additional Search Features

2003-01-26 Thread Mel Martin (VE2DC)
I suppose that's the problem with generating Cabrillo. Contesting
logging programs require contant fixes und upgrades to keep up with the
contests... Since DX4Win is not intended primarily as a contest
logger... Adding Cabrillo would necessitate constant tweaking to get the
Cabrillo correct. It's not a standard like ADIF where the format is
fixed over time.

Writelog is good at generating Cabrillo. If you watch the writelog
reflector, it is evident that an effort is required to generate the
proper cabrillo file for each contest and sponsor. I built several
Cabrillo files by hand for the ARRL contests and decided that WriteLog
was a good investment.

waiting for a cabrillo format on report saves...

 Don,

It is all there in 5.03 already.

 1. File preferences | QSO | Searching | QSO Date:
 select 'Range'

 2. In QSO Window: F8 to start a search

 3. Select 80M in the band

 4. Select N for confirmed

 5. Select 01/01/1950 or something for QSL date
 (indicates card has been sent)

 6. Enter 01/01/2000 in the date and press Enter

Because of step 1, you get a prompt for the ending
 date; enter 01/01/2003

If the logbook window is open, you will see a list
 of all QSOs matching your criteria;
PgUp and PgDn in the QSO Window will show you the
 different QSOs.

There is a lot more you can do with searching; read
the on-line help and the user's guide
about filters, selections. Also check Mailed cutoff
and worked cutoff in File | Preferences | Personal.

I was wondering if you got my post on providing

Being able to use the attributes in the country

Perhaps they could be included as options in the
 reports generator in the
Summary Report. The ability to search a
 predetermined time frame. Example:
Search for QSOs on 80 meters mailed but not
 confirmed from 1/1/00 to 1/1/03.

[Dx4win] FM Martinique, or FM, the Mode

2003-01-26 Thread Mel Martin (VE2DC)
Probably couldn't make up it's mind if it was FM or CW ;-)
DXCluster spot formats don't standardize the mode... Was meant for human
eyes. Paul scans the spot's comments to determine if anything in it
states the mode... You can guess what happened...

[Dx4win] FM Martinique, or FM, the Mode

2003-01-26 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
It's possible Paul may have fixed this in Version 6. I just saw FM5CW
spotted on 10 meters (FM in comment field), and the spot was grayed-out (I
had already worked this station). If DX4WIN had tried to parse the mode,
the spot would have been in a different color.

[Dx4win] FM Martinique, or FM, the Mode

2003-01-26 Thread Richard L. King
This happens to me for every FM-Martinique spot entered from packet using
DX4WIN.

I believe this problem occurs with people using AR-Cluster to get their
spots. The AR-Cluster has a country column at the end of the comments
field and I think DX4WIN reads this as though it was a comment about the
mode and switches you to FM.

Maybe Paul can limit the number of columns he looks at in the comments
field to stop this from happening.

[Dx4win] Additional Search Features

Please understand that WriteLog is a contesting program and not a general
purpose logger like DX4WIN. You can easily convert each contest in WriteLog
and import it in DX4WIN with a utility called WL2DX4WIN.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I'll use
logconv for the past NAQP and start using writelog.

I downloaded the latest version of the DLL and it seems to work fine.
Reportedly, a few bugs were fixed that I never saw. I plan to include the
latest DLL in the next release.
