I just installed 7.04 on the new machine in exactly the same location. I copied all my \save files to the new save directory and copied my license file to the c:\dx4win directory. With the license file in the c:\dx4win directory, Dx4win starts up in Demo mode and says nothing about my license file. c:\dx4win was the location for the license file on my old machine and DX4win work correctly with it there. I moved the license file to the c:\dx4win\dx4w704 directory and now when started, Dx4win gives me the bad license file... message. I'm out of ideas. RE: [Dx4win] 7.04 Installation problems on a new computer
Guy, I just tried installing to C:\dx4w704 and it did not work. So I uninstalled Dx4win again and deleted all associated files and directories. I then tried again, installing to C:\dx4w704 and then tried installing to the default directory C:\Program Files\dx4w704. Both instances gave me the same problem. So I uninstalled dx4win again, cleared all files, etc. I then reinstalled to the default C:\Program Files\dx4w704 directory. I then recovered my old dx4win directory from a backup disk and placed those files into the C:\Program Files\dx4w704 directory on top of the just installed files. Vista wouldn't let me recover to the Program Files directory directly so I had to recover to the desktop and then move the files to the Program files directory. I then ran dx4win and all now works correctly. It works but I'm not happy! You just have to love VISTA! [Dx4win] Groups, and DXCC/VUCC After A Move
Hi, folks- Sorry to ask about what is likely a common problem, but I'm completely stumped over creating a group. I'm using 6.04; my Selection and Edit Group Names options under Filter for my log (I only have one .dxl file that stores everything) are grayed out. I've read the help file to no avail. Since I've moved to Connecticut, I'd like to subdivide my log to groups before and after the move. Here's the rub; I'm a VHF'er as well as a DX'er; I track both grid squares and countries. DXCC rules state a QSO counts as long as you're in the same country. VUCC rules state that QSOs only count if you stay within 200 KM of your main QTH. As I've moved to CT, I have to start collecting grids all over again. I'm looking for a way to group my QSO's so that my grid totals are tracked separately between Illinois and CT, but my DXCC totals on VHF are still lumped together. Is this possible? If so, how would I do it? Thanks! [Dx4win] Label Questions
Hmmm, maybe It's been too long since I QSLed, but I have a few questions. Maybe someone knows the answers: 1. I wanted to only print those labels which meet the selection of Confirmed=Y and Label=Y. When I tried to print labels, it would not take the selection - it wanted to print all of them. So, I created a new file using DX4WIN export version 6.01 and later, the latest export filter I have (I'm running V7.03). The file it created had a DXQ extension, not DXL, so couldn't be opened. Or, should I have used the import function? 2. So, I created an ADIF file instead, created a new DXL file and imported that. I had my 144 QSOs OK, although the Label field lost the Y's. I used that file to print the labels I needed OK. 3. Now I need to use the Multiple QSO function to place today's date in the 144 selected ones in the real file. Whoops, it uses the QSO date.??? What did I do wrong there? I guess I'll have no trouble resetting the print flag, but I need a good date. And, I could import them, replacing the originals, but I think that ADIF fails to carry along much needed fields, like Checked, etc., so can't do that. I just went back and created a new blank file, and imported the Version 6 file. Now I see all of the fields OK, but every record now says, Invalid(DX). The preferences are OK and I re-imported them just in case. Where do I go from here? John, K2CIB ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
