Hi Jim,

This list is only for one french department :-) (the number 28) The
complete list in Excel format can de found here (mre than 3000 cantons) :

http://www.ref83.free.fr/diplomes.htm

At the far end of the page, you will find a Zip icon to be downloaded.

[Dx4win] Lost 8.02 log after uninstalling unrelated (??) programs

2009-12-09 Thread Jim Simon
Help! I use an older Sony Vaio desktop as my radio computer, and run
DX4WIN (8.02, which I upgraded from 7.05 a month ago). I saved my contacts
as recently as yesterday morning. Last last night I uninstalled some
programs I no longer use on that computer (like Microsoft Office, etc.).
None of them were related to DX4WIN as far as I know. However, after
rebooting the computer, when I try to open DX4WIN, I get an error message
which says dx4win.exe - application error -- The application failed to
initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click OK to terminate this application.
The older version of DX4WIN (7.05) opens with no problem, but it means I've
lost all the log data since I upgraded, among other things. I have tried
several times to do a system restore, but after the process has run, each
time I get a message saying the process could not be completed successfully.

I am not a computer wizard, as you can probably tell. Any suggestions as to
how to get my Version 8.02 back?

Hi Jim,

That error (from Microsoft, not DX4WIN) can be fixed, go to
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/ there's a link to fix it near the top.

I would like to know how to backup the log from V707.02 to a USB memory stick?

I wrote a more general article about backup:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us

Look for the application note about data protection strategies.

I use a program called IOMEGA Automatic Backup (which they may not
sell anymore). There have been other posts on the reflector about
other utilities. The key is to have the backup happen automatically
in the background, not be user-initiated. That way it will get done
without you having to think about it.

DX4WIN 8.03 will introduce a secondary backup location (you could use
a USB memory stick). Every time the log is backed up or saved, it
will also be backed up or saved to this secondary location.

[Dx4win] Missing time on Packet spots?

2009-12-09 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
Just upgraded to version 8.02. The time is not included on my DX Spots.

The 8 columns populated are:

P-FREQ---CALLSIGNMEM--QSL--REMARKSSPOTTERDATE

On another question I downloaded the complete list of LoTW users. Where should
this file reside in order to populate the spots with that info?

Thanks

Time is normally found between Member and QSX. Grab the bar
between MEM and QSL (as you wrote, should be QSX) and pull is to see
if the Time field appears.

Look up member lists in the Help file. Or go to
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/ and find the application note about Member
Lists.
