[Dx4win] Test something 4me?

2010-04-20 Thread Ray Sirois
Those of you who have upgraded to version 8.x

Could you try importing, opening, or merging OLDer
DX4WIN log files if you have 'em?

I've been fighting with old 2002-2004 (version 4 and 5 ish) log files
I have on an old hard drive. I can't get them in to my
newly upgraded version 8.

Lots of problems with lots of files. Can't believe it is
the old files...cuz none of them work.

Help!

Re: [Dx4win] Test something 4me?

2010-04-20 Thread nx0x

Ray,

About a month ago I upgraded from version 5.03 to the new version 8.x and
everything went very smoothly. I bought a new computer and just installed ver 8
to the new computer. My old computer still runs ver 5.03. I copied my log file
out to a flash drive, imported the file to my new computer with ver 8 and it
all went very smoothly without any problems.

I tried to then actually do the upgrade on the older computer but was having
issues with windows xp and ver 8. Looking into it further I needed to upgrade
the windows xp service pack. I started to have problems with that so I just
keep it the way it was. It looks like it could have been done though, I just
did not want to mess with it as I'm using the newer computer now anyway.

But to answer your question, The log file transfer from 5.03 to the new 8.x
when off with NO problems for me. I also transferred/merged my WPX contest logs
into both versions and had no problem with either one of them.

for the radio, can't find it, and then when it gives up, I get an error
message that says Radio timed out, radio interface has been disabled. I
understand that issue, and figure that prior to powering off the radio, I
need to use DX4WIN's Radio menu to Stop Radio.

You don't need to stop the radio. Just make sure you are not in Add
QSO mode, by typing ESCape. Your log should be at the last logged QSO.
I do this all the time, it works fine.

Re: [Dx4win] Starting and Stopping Radio

2010-04-20 Thread Kostas Stamatis
I suggest also to
filepreferences Radio tab on the left of DTR and RTS there is a box says
Max tries. Make this 1 to limit the time dx4win tries to find the radio. My
Mark v works fine with 1 try, i don't need the default 3.
