Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a Cabrillo format
I am assuming he means he wants to email his contest log entry to the CQ contest people as a Cabrillo log. George, what most people do is to use a contest logger, like the free N1MM program, to log contest contacts. Then after the contest it gives you an ADIF file that I import into DX4WIN (using Jim's excellent ADIF to DXL conversion program) and a Cabrillo file to email to CQ Contest. But since you did your contest logging on DX4WIN you can download those contest contacts using a filter (date, group, whatever) as a ADIF file then use the converter from http://www.sp7dqr.waw.pl/en/converters.php to convert the ADIF file to Cabrillo to email to CQ. I have done this a couple of times when I wasn't really in a contest but made a few contacts and wanted to be sure the people I worked got credit for my contacts so I entered a log even if it was for only 10 or 20 QSO's. -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: Friday, December 02, 2011 4:45 PM To: George Cc: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format On Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at 5:36 PM, George wrote: > I'm trying to export my CQ-WW log contacts to CQ and am having trouble > converting DX4WIN's exported ADIF file to a Cabrillo format. Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
After reading the couple of emails on the topic... I stand corrected I was not thinking of the headers that are sent part of the file, I was only thinking of the main body and did not realize there were different versions out there. My mistake... After reading these few emails (and from doing the ADIF/Cabrillo conversions before) for DX4WIN, I can see why Paul has not gone that route. I have used N1MM before but do have to learn it better... 73, Brian -Original Message- From: Larry Gauthier (K8UT) To: dx4win Sent: Sat, Dec 3, 2011 12:16 pm Subject: Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format Brian, Not all Cabrillos are created equal. Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
Playing devils advocate here... This is a copy of the header section of one of my recent Cabrillo files. The required header labels and values are contest specific. Everything needs to be formatted exactly as the contest sponsor’s robot wants it or it will reject. ARRL-SECTION: SNJ CALLSIGN: N2SCJ CLUB: South Jersey Radio Association CONTEST: CQ-WW-SSB CATEGORY: SINGLE-OP-ASSISTED ALL LOW SSB CLAIMED-SCORE: 43362 OPERATORS: N2SCJ NAME: Robert ADDRESS: Turner ADDRESS: Address and street name. ADDRESS: City, State, Zip ADDRESS: USA CREATED-BY: N1MM Logger V11.10.3 If DX4Win is going to generate valid Cabrillo file, how is it going to know all this stuff? Calculating the claimed score seems to be the most difficult as DX4WIN would need to know about the valid multipliers used in each contest. I recommend N1MM for contest logging. After the contest you export an ADIF and import it into DX4Win. Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
One of the problems is that you then have to have a way to specify the contest-specific header and possibly deal with different data in the file depending on the contest. I normally use the N1MM contest logger for contesting, but there have been a few times when I hadn't intended to participate in a contest but figured I'd log a few contacts in D4W, then later decided to submit a log. What I did was to export my contacts in ADIF, import them into N1MM, then export the Cabrillo log from there. It worked fine, and while it was another few steps, it wasn't really a big deal. Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
They are not asking for a "contest" style program that would require constant changes due to rule changes ect... They are asking for a way to export a file in Cabrillo format. True this is generally used in contests, However I don't believe this would require updates like you say. This could be a one time change could it not? I'm for exporting a Cabrillo file directly from DX4WIN... My 2 cents... 73, Brian - NX0X -Original Message- From: Mel To: Kostas Stamatis Cc: REFLECTOR dx4win Sent: Sat, Dec 3, 2011 10:15 am Subject: Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format Nope... Re: [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
Nope... Paul should not waste time on Contest features because they require constant attention to changes. Even casual contesters should consider a free contest program, they are so much better suited. I use N1MM. It gets pretty involved if you want to use all the features... but you don't need all the features for causal operating like I'm doing in the 160 contest this weekend. [Dx4win] Error Message
Every once in a while a window pops up saying: An exception occured! Output buffer too small for block I'm running WinXP Home, DX4Win 8.05, and LP Bridge Any ideas? 73, Roger __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] QRZ Database and MTTY questions
Hello All, With a bit of talk about qrz database I decided to get the database. But it is not picked up by Dx4Win I have the database saved under E:\qrzdata and this setting in dx4win Ext data settings. The error with F3 selected is QRZ Error: Database not found, Have I missed another setting? Also started using MTTY with FSK from Dx4Win. Looking for some scripts for rtty to clear sent text before every transmission. It seems very difficult to grab callsign's and info from the receive window to paste into the log window, grabs more than what you need. Also if you type live and make a mistake even before its transmitted the error is transmitted? System is using Windows 7 Pro 32bit. ..Also thanks to you Jim Ad1c for all your work on Dx4Win..
