Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Will Not Start

2020-04-08 Thread Bud Governale
Problem resolved the hard way.

A WIN10 back in time restore point did not resolve the problem.

I bit the bullet and did a complete clean DX4WIN installation.
Fortunately I had all the needed files archived on thumb drives including
the latest logfile, DX4WIN ini config file, etc etc.

Thanks to all who sent suggestions.

Re: [Dx4win] Auto Upload to LOTW, etc.

2020-04-08 Thread Kostas SV1DPI

Hello Ray,

I apologize for my English. I agree with you. I would like to say that
the most of the users who desperately wanted automatic upload, etc have
gone. And if some of them are still stick with Dx4win will leave
someday. I agree that Dx4win needs urgently to have these features to be
able to keep the users it has. Much more features to increase the users
number.

Kosta,

I like to thank you for all your support with DX4WIN over the years. I
too have been a loyal DX4WIN user for more than 25 years. However,
most the things you mentioned that DX4WIN users do not like or need is
not true, in my mind.

I am hoping Paul will be working on some sort of automatic upload for
LOTW and WSJTX QSOs into DX4WIN. If not, I believe DX4WIN will become
stagnant in its use by not taking into account the changes that are
happening in making QSOs and logging them.

And if it was not for Jim (AD1C) the accuracy would not be there
either.

Just an FYI from earlier discussion:  I use DXLabs at the club
station and we send in our LoTW uploads in bulk but just two
clicks to send (one to add requested QSOs, one to send).  Then
downloads are one click to download log match (that QSOs are
matched in both places) and one more to update confirmations. Last
click can be done whenever you want to check for more
confirmations.  I also think every QSO uploaded real time is a
waste of LoTW computer resources but they are so fast normally now
that is not really an issue.

It is normal that the most of the users still use dx4win are not
interested for auto upload to lotw, clublog and eqsl. After some
time I believe the majority of the dx4win users will be like me:
they will not have interest for ft8 as well.

Dx4win should be able to offer these 2 things. Of course
switchable auto or not. But this is what most of the people ask
today. I have showed dx4win to many new hams. I explain that the
most important thing in a logging program is to be reliable (not
loose my qsos) and show the right dxcc entity and zone of every
call. Dx4win does perfect these 2 things.
I am a CQ checker in my country. You can not believe how many
mistakes other programs have in zones. But all the new hams are
interesting for
ft8 and other digi and they don't like the way dx4win handles
this. Also they want to be able easily upload to lotw and clublog.
In combination that they need to pay for dx4win (not a few $) the
most of them go away.
This is not good for most of us even we are ok with dx4win...
