Re: [Dx4win] K3 rig files
It seems that the problem with the K3 not going to spots clicked upon in the DX Spots window was caused by NaP3 V5.5.0! I reverted to V3.1 and all is well. Re: [Dx4win] K3 .Rig file from the RADIOS Folder of Ver 8.05
X5 is my arbitrary designation for a patch I made to K3 X4.rig about 3 years ago to fix the problem with the X4 file sending the frequency and mode commands to the K3 in the wrong order. I don't recall now which has to come first, but unless they're done correctly grabbing split spots won't put the radio in split mode. Jim, I'd be happy for you to host it on your site. 73... [Dx4win] DX4WIN + K3 Strange Telnet Behavior

With the K3 in the CW portion of the band (e.g. 3503.5) if I double click on a spot at 3800.0 the K3 goes to 3800.65. With the radio in the SSB portion of the band (e.g. 3800.0) if I double click on a spot at 3503.5 the K3 goes to 3502.85. I am getting a 650 Hz offset whenever the K3 changes modes. I am using an Orion 1 with DX4WIN and does the very same thing that Dave is having a problem with...Grabbing a spot ALWAYS changes my mode to LSB...Operation with the FT2000 is normal. RE: [Dx4win] K3 via USB?
Jim, I've used an IO Gear USB to serial adaptor for rig control with a Yaesu Mark V with good results in SSB contests. No CW, FSK but only rig interfacing. Don't know about the K3 specifically. If you plan to use it for CW and/or Rtty then I use a Microham Microkeyer for that. 73, Don VE3XD -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: November-21-08 6:37 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Cc: Joe Reisert, W1JR Subject: [Dx4win] K3 via USB? There are USB to Serial 'cables' now. Electronics in the connectors and USB powered. I use one to connect from my PC to the PROII. Works like a champ... [Dx4win] K3 - Packet Spots / Split Op
I would like to than Bob Serwy (N9RS) for fixing the K3 Rig Control file. This morning I replaced the existing K3 rig control with Bob's new one and gave it a try. OUTSTANDING. I set the K3 on 30 mtrs, both VFO A and B on cw. Clicked on a 40 mtr Eu SSB spot. Everything worked - even the modes. The K3 briefly displayed AB All and the SPLT icon stayed on and the frequencies were both correct. GREAT JOB BOB !!! 73, Bruce - N1LN (aka: NC4KW) K3 #1062 K3 #1093 ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
Re: [Dx4win] K3 / Split / DX cluster
Hi Bruce, You are certainly NOT ALONE! This defect has been brought up numerous times over the years but for the Kenwood radios as the commands are the same for Elecraft radios. Is it on the list to be fixed? Well, if it is on the fix-it list the priority has been pretty low. I have loyal to DX4WIN for over 10 years. There are a lot of good features about DX4WIN. But, there have been a few things that irritate me. This is a major irritant. With the Kenwood radios it was a quick button push on the radio to get split operation. But, that is only after clicking the spot twice, in some cases, to get both frequencies loaded. With the way the K3 buttons are setup, getting set for split is a little more bother. Actually, the K3 gets put into the SPLIT mode but on the previous band, the one it came from. Using the BAND button, scroll back to the previous band and you will see. Basically, the commands for mode, split, and frequencies are sent to the radio in the wrong order. Paul has done pretty good at keeping up with many of the fixes needed over the years. Why he hasn't fixed this long standing bug is a mystery. BUT, I wish he would find some motivation to get it done. Please, Paul. 73, Bob - N9SF At 22:12 8/6/2008, you wrote: I will ask again.. As asked before - Tonight I was testing DX4Win version 7.04.04 to see how it worked with the K3. Everything I tested seemed to be fine except for how it managed the DX Cluster with split frequency spots. I sent a test spot for two freqs on 80 with the K3 set to split op. The spot appeared to be correct in the cluster display. I then cleared the log window and changed the band of the K3 to 40. After clicking on the spot the frequencies were correct but the K3 did not go into split mode. The TX focus stayed on VFO A.I then closed DX4win and opened Write-Log and tried the same test using the spot sent from DX4Win. Write-Log worked fine, going to the correct frequencies and TX focus was on VFO B as it should be. [Dx4win] K3 Radio File
I have DX4WIN v7.04.04 and using it with the K3. I am having the following problems when I double click a spot. When I double click a spot with a split, a) the VFO B mode doesn't change and b) split does not stay on. I can see the split indicator go on but then it goes out. Is there a newer version of the K3 radio file? Any ideas? Bob Serwy - N9RS ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
