Re: [Dx4win] K3 rig files

2019-11-28 Thread Roger D Johnson

It seems that the problem with the K3 not going to spots clicked upon in
the DX Spots window was caused by NaP3 V5.5.0! I reverted to V3.1 and all
is well. Anyone else see this problem?

Hello Steve,

Look again, it is listed. If you have an older version of DX4WIN (I don't
know when it was added), try a generic Kenwood radio. I'm sure there is
info on AD1C's excellent web site: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/

2013-06-09 Thread Randy Farmer
X5 is my arbitrary designation for a patch I made to K3 X4.rig about 3
years ago to fix the problem with the X4 file sending the frequency and
mode commands to the K3 in the wrong order. I don't recall now which has
to come first, but unless they're done correctly grabbing split spots
won't put the radio in split mode. Jim, I'd be happy for you to host it
on your site.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN + K3 Strange Telnet Behavior

2011-01-10 Thread Wayne Rogers
I have DX4WIN 8.08 and a K3. I have been experiencing an oddity that I have
not been able to resolve:

With K3 tuned to 3500.0, if I double click on a spot at 3503.5 the K3 goes
to 3503.5. No problem.

With the K3 in the CW portion of the band (e.g. 3503.5) if I double click on
a spot at 3800.0 the K3 goes to 3800.65.

With the radio in the SSB portion of the band (e.g. 3800.0) if I double
click on a spot at 3503.5 the K3 goes to 3502.85.

I am getting a 650 Hz offset whenever the K3 changes modes. This happens in
DX4WIN, but not in N1MM.

Anyone have an idea where this is coming from?

Thanks,

[Dx4win] K3

2010-05-19 Thread N7KA

I can not get the K3 (RS232) to interface to Version 7.02.15.  I can get th e
K3 to interface on another program I have been testing.  The  2nd program NOT
running when I try to interface the K3 to D X4WIN.  I tried the TS-2000 as the
selected radio which I am told should allow interface.  Same COM port for both
programs.

I am not looking at radio control from computer, just BAND/MODE display
selected on the K3 (for now).

After I get the K3 interface (RS232) working I want then to add a TS-2000
(mainly VHF) as a 2nd radio. ( I need to add a card to gain additional serial
ports.)

And yes, the other program is a challange, which I do not really need.  Every
program has its GOOD and BAD points.  I will be upgradingDX4WIN.

BUT FIRST, the K3 issue.

[Dx4win] K3 and Split Packet Spots

2009-07-03 Thread Dave Hawes
I am using a K3 with v7.07 of DX4WIN.

Everything seems fine, except that I just notices that DX4WIN isn't
handling the splits properly. When you click on a spot with a listed QSX,
the VFO B is set properly, but the radio is not put into split mode.

If you are already in SPLIT, and click on a spot with a listed QSX, it sets
VFO B properly, and takes the radio out of split.

Is this a set up problem, a feature, or a bug?

Why are there two drivers, and what are the other differences?

Here is the answer to my question:

File | Databases | Radio
Select K3
Select Values tab
In mode values, select CW
You will see the values 3 and 7
Select the check box next the the second row
File save changes and exit.

This works.

Tnx to Paul for the tip.

Jim,

I've used an IO Gear USB to serial adaptor for rig control with a Yaesu Mark
V with good results in SSB contests. No CW, FSK but only rig interfacing.
Don't know about the K3 specifically. If you plan to use it for CW and/or
Rtty then I use a Microham Microkeyer for that.

[Dx4win] K3 - Packet Spots / Split Op

2008-08-09 Thread Bruce Meier
I would like to than Bob Serwy (N9RS) for fixing the K3 Rig Control file.
This morning I replaced the existing K3 rig control with Bob's new one and
gave it a try. OUTSTANDING.

I set the K3 on 30 mtrs, both VFO A and B on cw. Clicked on a 40 mtr Eu
SSB spot. Everything worked - even the modes. The K3 briefly displayed AB
All and the SPLT icon stayed on and the frequencies were both correct.

GREAT JOB BOB !!!

Re: [Dx4win] K3 / Split / DX cluster

2008-08-07 Thread Bob Thompson - N9SF

Hi Bruce,
You are certainly NOT ALONE! This defect has been brought up
numerous times over the years but for the Kenwood radios as the
commands are the same for Elecraft radios. Is it on the list to be
fixed? Well, if it is on the fix-it list the priority has been pretty low.

I have loyal to DX4WIN for over 10 years. There are a lot of good
features about DX4WIN. But, there have been a few things that
irritate me. This is a major irritant.

With the Kenwood radios it was a quick button push on the radio to
get split operation. But, that is only after clicking the spot
twice, in some cases, to get both frequencies loaded. With the way
the K3 buttons are setup, getting set for split is a little more bother.

Actually, the K3 gets put into the SPLIT mode but on the previous
band, the one it came from. Using the BAND button, scroll back to
the previous band and you will see. Basically, the commands for
mode, split, and frequencies are sent to the radio in the wrong order.

Paul has done pretty good at keeping up with many of the fixes needed
over the years. Why he hasn't fixed this long standing bug is a
mystery. BUT, I wish he would find some motivation to get it
done. Please, Paul.

change the mode of VFO B.

Tonight I was testing DX4Win version 7.04.04 to see how it worked with the

Cluster with split frequency spots. I sent a test spot for two freqs on 80
with the K3 set to split op. The spot appeared to be correct in the cluster
display. I then cleared the log window and changed the band of the K3 to
40. After clicking on the spot the frequencies were correct but the K3 did
not go into split mode. The TX focus stayed on VFO A.I then closed
DX4win and opened Write-Log and tried the same test using the spot sent from
DX4Win. Write-Log worked fine, going to the correct frequencies and TX
focus was on VFO B as it should be.

Is this BUG on the list to be addressed?
