[Dx4win] Something wrong with the key file

2009-08-05 Thread IZ4GWE - Michele - Ravenna
I've the same problem of Roger, W1EM.
I placed the key (IZ4GWE_lic.dx4w8) in dx4w801 folder
and when save the log, also a new log, i get a message:
Something wrong with the key file and after An exception occurred!
Previleged instruction and the program not save nothing.
The PC has Win XP Prof. and i running as administrator.
Is it a problem of key ?

[Dx4win] Something wrong with the key file

2009-08-04 Thread Roger Marrotte
I just received my key file for version 8. I placed it in the dx4w801
directory. I upgraded from version 7.07. I started dx4win and it now shows
my name in place of saying demo mode. I opened my log file. When I make a
change to the logfile and try to close dx4win and save the changes I get a
message saying that there is something wrong with the key file and then the
program eats my database. I have it backed up so nothing is lost. It's not
opening the database in the old directory because I renamed the old
directory. I tried running as administrator. The computer has Vista 32bit
loaded. Do I need my version 7 key file placed in a version 8 directory
too?

Re: [Dx4win] Something wrong with the key file

2009-08-04 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Roger,

V8 key files only work with V8, V7 key files only work with V7.

Open a command prompt (Start|All Programs|Accessories|Command Prompt)
and navigate (cd) to the directory where the program is installed:
C:\DX4W801 or wherever you put it.

Use the DIR command and see if you have a file like this:

6/07/2009 12:36 1,082 AD1C_lic.dx4w8

It must have the name: yourcall_lic
and the extension: .dx4w8

It's possible that the file extension was stripped off when you saved
the key (Thunderbird E-mail client tends to do this).

Re: [Dx4win] Something wrong with the key file

2009-08-04 Thread Rick Craig
I'm having the same problem that Roger has with the key. I unzipped
the key to the correct directory and it shows that it is there. When
I open Dx4win version 8.01, it shows my name and call but when I try
to save the log, it says there is something wrong with the key. The
program then saves my log as a 0 byte file.

Not a good thing, Rick, N6ND
