Re: [Dx4win] Test something 4me?
Thanks you guys for your input and help. Got it working... Old logs coming up FB in v.8! The IDE to USB device purchased at Staples appears to be the culprit. All the log files were arriving corrupted as they were copied off the old hard drive. So, this morning when hooking the old hard drive up to a different machine which had an IDE bus, I copied my old log files off, then transfered them to the new laptop... and the logs all come up no problem. Looks like I found the latest one... with 10,805 qsos in it. SO, I'm doing much better now... Last but not least is getting a USB to 9-pin serial cable so I can have rig control... Those seem to be hard to come by for 64 bit Windows 7 machines! Ray On Wed, Apr 21, 2010 at 4:41 PM, Mel ve...@videotron.ca wrote: Or your hard drive might be in trouble. I hope you have back-up. So I am counting on the new ver 8 (on win7-64bit) to be able to import, open,or merge. But I'm getting corruption. Since others here are saying it should work fine cuz it worked great for them, I now suspect my IDE-USB connection tool to not be 100pct reliable. Re: [Dx4win] Test something 4me?
Ray, About a month ago I upgraded from version 5.03 to the new version 8.x and everything went very smoothly. I bought a new computer and just installed ver 8 to the new computer. My old computer still runs ver 5.03. I copied my log file out to a flash drive, imported the file to my new computer with ver 8 and it all went very smoothly without any problems. I tried to then actually do the upgrade on the older computer but was having issues with windows xp and ver 8. Looking into it further I needed to upgrade the windows xp service pack. I started to have problems with that so I just keep it the way it was. It looks like it could have been done though, I just did not want to mess with it as I'm using the newer computer now anyway. But to answer your question, The log file transfer from 5.03 to the new 8.x when off with NO problems for me. I also transferred/merged my WPX contest logs into both versions and had no problem with either one of them.
