[Dx4win] test

2004-02-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dick White)
Hello everyone.
This is a test to make sure that I am finally back on the reflector. I
changed to a DSL service on January 6th. I unsubscribed the reflector using
my old e-mail address and server. I tried to subscribe to the list again
with my new address and server. For some reason, the robot would not let me
subscribe with my new address until today. I have no idea why it would not
respond to my request for over a month. I did not change anything in my set
up. But, I tried it again today and it says I am subscribed again.

[Dx4win] M2 2800 RS232 Protocol Update

2004-02-16 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
Confirmed, for those if anyone interested. 73, Byron

From: Wyatt Lyzenga [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Byron,

Yes the protocal has changed. We are currently working with the other
software designers to have them update their software. We were unaware of
the changes at the time the new board was built. We are working quickly to
have company's like DX4WIN and WRITElog get up to speed.

Regards,

Wyatt

One question, though: Did you change the RS232
interface protocol at all? Neither DX4WIN nor WRITElog
seem to work with it now.

DX4WIN can't give it three digit numbers for direction. It
only takes the first two (which means it can't automate a
turn beyond 35 degrees). I'm guessing the next command
is ignored because there is still a character out unused. Then
the next command works, up to two digitis, and so on.

In WRITElog, I had less success.

HYPERterm works as documented in the new manual pages.

[Dx4win] EXT DATA -- from QRZ.com on line

2004-02-16 Thread Tod - ID
I wish to thank Chaz Cone for supplying the magic that allowed me to =
use
the QRZ.COM web access mentioned in the Version 6.0 manual.

The secret is to put the QRZ.COM URL (www.qrz.com) in both the Call sign
lookup address and the QSL lookup address sub windows of the EXT DATA
window. Then when one places the cursor on the Call in the regular QSO
window and presses the [F3]key a blank window appears with call sign in =
the
lower left corner. Now hit the [ENTER] key and the QRZ screen will =
appear.=20

Overall it is not as slick as pulling up the information from a CD =
that
has been stored on one's hard drive, but it does work.

[Dx4win] EXT DATA -- from QRZ.com on line

2004-02-16 Thread Garry Shapiro
That is not working for me in 6.02. When I hit [ENTER}, it tries to open
the QRZ.com site, but flashes through it to a Cannot display screen. The
reason for this becomes apparent---the URL entered in the IE address bar is
www.qrz.com, but with the DX callsign appended to the .com!

Would someone like to take a crack at explaining that?

Garry, NI6T

I finally installed DX4WIN 6.02 and set all of the preferences to what
had
been the settings for DX4WIN 5.3 in my environment . Things seem to
work
   just fine.

I decided to see about using the Version 6.02 feature that allows one
to do
a Website Call sign Lookup (page 33 of the Version 6.0, January 2003
Manual). There is a reference to a field labeled callsign which I
interpret to be the one labeled Website callsign address on the EXT
DATA
popup window for setting parameters in my version of 6.02 . When I try
to
use the example shown for accessing QRZ.COM I get no result displayed.
If I
change back to use one of the CD ROM databases the call sign
information
appears immediately (as it normally does). I have tried a number of
alternatives with no success. I do use DXTELNET spotting and have no
problem
getting it to perform properly in Version 6.02.

My question is: Is there a bug with respect to the Website Callsign
Lookup
option or is this simply a case of cockpit error? There is a follow on
question if the answer is cockpit error -- Has this been discussed
before and the answer provided somewhere in the archives? And a final
follow
on query -- if it is in the archives does anyone have a guess as to
what
   month it might be in?

Tod, I had the same problem. You have to put the qrz.com url in both
the
callsign lookup AND QSL manager fields. Works fine then.
