[Dx4win] Hawai'i
Hi Jim, You had it right the first er second time. The name of the State is Hawai'i. The name of the Big Island is Hawai'i. The name of the county is Hawai'i. These are locations in the United States and the language is English. Hawaii is commonly used but is not the correct name for any of the above. The state maps and signs are gradually being changed. I do not call this a part of the set of so called culturally sensitive issues. The use of the word Hawaii without the glottal stop is just a mistake that is slowly being corrected. It is too bad that some so called experts wish to continue with errors. This reminds me that when the US renamed a famous area to honor Jack Northrop the founder of the Northrop Aircraft Corporation and father of the flying wing aircraft design. They got it wrong and named it Northrup Field. And kept it wrong on the maps. Aloha, John KH7T

[Dx4win] F2 function in 8.03
The preferences menu appears to give me exactly what I wanted for F2. Options are selectable to mark the qso confirmed and insert current date in the QSL sent location. It marks the QSO confirmed and no longer sets the label flag to Y. This is a good change. However, I cannot get F2 to set the date into the QSL sent date location. What am I missing? 73, John KH7T __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] F2 action
I have updated to 8.04 and got an improvement in the F2 action. At least now it works predictably. With Preferences, F2 key, set as follows: Checked: Mark Qso as confirmed, Set QSL Data to today, Qsl method Direct. QSL method action is only if Mark QSO for Label is checked. I cannot get F2 to set the qsl date to anything. I suppose there is some logic to this if the QSL date is set when the label is printed. To me, the coupled logic is not useful. It may be optimized for some sort of batch processing for sending QSLs. I receive many QSLs by multiple methods. I do not routinely send QSLs for all contacts made but do respond to all received. F2 would be much more useful to me, if I, with received card in hand, could search for the QSL, confirm the card, then use F2 to set my choice of Label, today's date, Cnfm, and method. with one stroke according to my preference settings. Perhaps this simpler logic could be an option to the present approach. What am I missing, or can you point me to documentation of the way it really works? Re: [Dx4win] F2 action
Thank you Jim and Mel for your clarifications. I had forgotten the Up Arrow to set the current date. I believe that the modification suggested by Mel would improve my usage of the F2 Action. Re: [Dx4win] Dx4win] Radio control speed question
For what it is worth, I run DX4Win, K3, P3, and Steppir SDA100 controller all at 38400. Make sure the Radio, Dx4Win preferences radio,The controller, the computer com port, are all set for 38400. I have run other programs for virtual ports to allow use of fldigi and contest loggers to be run simultaneously. When there is a problem, I usually find the computer port set to a lower limit. I hope this helps, John KH7T w8eh wrote: I just switched from using a FT-920 and am now running a Yaesu FT-950. When I switched, I went to a higher speed on the CAT serial port. Now I am experiencing a slow down of sorts with DX4WIN now. The program will be unresponsive for about 1 to 1.5 seconds after clicking on something. It also seems to slow actions with WinKey (click on a Fkey button and wait). When I run the CAT port at 4800 baud, everything works normal. Has anyone else noticed this with the FT-950 or other radios at the higher cat speeds? I have several other radio control programs, including Ham Radio Deluxe that work great with the FT-950 at the higher speed serial rates. I am running WinXp and a real internal serial port card. Re: [Dx4win] external data software such as hamcall, qrz, etc
Am I missing something? I thought RAC and updates went away around 2002. Aloha, John KH7T Jim wrote: Radio Amateur Callbook (Flying Horse) works best with DX4WIN. It can populate State, Country, Drid and Name by clicking on a button in the Callsign/Mgr Lookup (F3) window.
