Position: Full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology or a related field from an 
accredited institution is required. ABD with a definite completion date will be 
considered. Interest and/or background in land or/water management is 
preferred. Evidence of interdisciplinary work also preferred. Successful 
candidate must demonstrate exceptional competence in teaching and have strong 
communication skills.

Responsibilities: Develop and teach undergraduate courses (12 credits per 
semester) in invertebrate and vertebrate biology, conservation-related courses, 
other classes related to the expertise of the applicant and department needs, 
and other duties as assigned, such as teaching First Year Seminar. The 
applicant will be expected to be actively involved in student recruitment and 
contribute to curriculum development in their area of expertise. Applicant 
should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Research, scholarly 
activity, and university service are expected, as well as a commitment to 
engage undergraduate students in research.

We seek an Assistant Professor of Biology to join our rapidly growing 
Zoo and Wildlife Biology and Environmental Science programs.  Expertise 
in Organismal Biology, Conservation and/or Environmental Science 
preferred. 

Responsibilities: 

The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester.

Teach lectures and labs in general biology sequence and other courses 
based on applicant’s areas of specialization.

Advise and mentor students and supervise undergraduate research.

Engage in scholarship and community service.

Serve on departmental & institutional committees.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biology by August 2018.

Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring, professional 
development and scholarly research.

Commitment to the Christian faith and a commitment to the integration of 
faith and learning in the academic discipline. 

About the Department of Science and Math:
 
The Department of Science and Mathematics consists of 11 full time 
faculty (4 biologists, 3 chemists, 2 mathematicians, 1 exercise science 
specialist and 1 computer scientist) with varying research interests. 
The department currently offers six academic majors, several of which 
have a variety of specialty tracks. In conjunction with the Department 
of Education, the Department of Science and Mathematics also offers 
programs designed to prepare students for secondary school teaching 
licensure.

Assistant Professor, tenure-track position, starting fall 2017.
Microbiologist. Candidate must be broadly trained in biology and have a
Ph.D. in the biological sciences. Post doctoral research and/or teaching
experience strongly preferred. Successful candidate will be committed to
teaching undergraduates and to developing a research program that involves
undergraduates. The teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester. Teaching
duties include an upper division microbiology course with laboratory and a
sophomore level cell biology course. A research lab and initial startup
funds will be provided. Preference will be given to candidates with
research expertise in a field related to the biology of microorganisms.

The Department of Biological Sciences at Bridgewater State University seeks a 
wildlife ecologist with focus on vertebrates. Candidate must be strongly 
committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, academic advising, and 
developing a program of independent research that has a substantial field-based 
component and includes mentoring original undergraduate research. Teaching 
requirements will include General Ecology, Comparative Chordate Anatomy, 
participation in General Biology for Biology majors, and upper-level elective 
courses in the candidate's area of expertise that will complement the major. In 
addition, the candidate will support the curation of the animal natural history 
collection held by the department. A new science complex offers 
state-of-the-art teaching and research spaces. The successful candidate must 
have excellent communication skills and an earned Ph.D. by June 2015.
