Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem
Wow, you'll never believe what I just found out! There is absolutely nothing wrong at all with L33. It turns out it's the rubber bumper that is at fault! I found this out by pressing down on the stem of the bumper with the plastic tuning tool, instead of pressing on the inductor. Guess what? Frequency started to drift!!! On a hunch, I decided to get my multimeter and measure on the bottom of the rubber bumper. It's slightly conductive! Starts at about 3 megohms and if I hold the multimeter probes in place the resistance slowly starts to drop down to 1 megohm and below. After a couple minutes holding the probes in place about 1/4 inch apart on the bottom of the bumper, the resistance got down to 500k! Since the solder pads for X3 BFO crystal are underneath the rubber bumper, it is effectively like putting a resistor in parallel with the crystal, which obviously has undesirable effects on the operation of the BFO oscillator. The slowly decreasing resistance as the meter probes are held in contact with the rubber is consistent with the fact that the BFO drifts over time. I suspected contaminants on the surface of the rubber, but after cleaning it with iso alcohol, there is no change. Something in the rubber is causing it to be conductive. I wonder if somewhere out there, there are hams with K2s experiencing BFO drift related to the same cause? If I got a conductive rubber bumper in my kit, it's highly likely someone else has also. Anyways, it's getting a little late right now. I'll communicate my findings to Elecraft tomorrow (in case they aren't already reading this). 73, Mikael VE8MT On Sun, Apr 13, 2014 at 9:50 PM, Don Wilhelm w3...@embarqmail.com wrote: Get a replacement L33 and see if that takes care of it. More than 40 years ago, it was standard practice to equalize broadcast lines for extended frequency response over relatively short paths, and transformers were used to step that impedance up to the 600 ohms used by older broadcast equipment. But the broadcast and pro audio world abandoned 600 ohms as a standard about 50 years ago. Modern audio circuits (since we converted from hollow state to solid state) use low impedance sources to drive high impedance imputs, there is no impedance matching except to the extent that the load impedance must be high enough that it does not draw any more current than the output stage is designed to provide. 73, Jim K9YC __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem
That's very interesting. I'm in the middle of building a K2 myself, although I haven't yet reached the stage where I mount L33. Out of interest, I took out my rubber bumper, and tested it with my DMM set to the 20M range -- the meter would only read infinite, showing no trace of any conductivity at all. So, if your is somehow conductive, then replacing the bumper may well resolve the drift problem. 73, Matt VK2RQ. [Elecraft] From WRTC 2010 Blog
Not sure where Keith was going with his comments on the K3... My FT-2000D and my FT-1000MP both needed some tweaking to get them where I wanted them. Any modern radio does...it's called a learning curve. I took my K3 to VP9I for the 2013 CQ-WW RTTY contest and prior to the contest probably didn't have ten hours experience on the rig. Have to say that compared to my Yaesu rigs and some ICOMs I've used...the K3 was like a comfortable old shoe by the time the contest started. All that being said, back in 2010, according to G3SXW, over 50% of the rigs used at WRTC were the K3. Here's a piece cut from that post. (I did a Google search on WRTC 2010 Equipment): - Some Interesting WRTC Statistics These were put together by Roger Western G3SXW: There were 48 Teams each with two transceivers: (for a total of 96 rigs) # Elecraft K3 - 49 # IC756PROIII - 17 # FT1000MP - 16 # Two each: TS850S, IC756, IC7800, FT2000 # One each: FTDX9000D, Ten-Tec Orion, IC775DSP, Orion 565AT, Elecraft K2 The winning five teams all used FT1000MP or Elecraft K3. -- Can't wait to see the equipment list from the WRTC 2014 competition 73, Ray - ND8L K3# 6150 KPA500# 1917 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Almost everyone running PSK31 is doing so with 15 - 35 watts, so a 3-4 watt signal isn't going to make a lot of QSO's. I did, but they were few and far between. Even worse on the JT modes... Don't disparage running 3 or 4 watts, or even less. Over the last decade, my K2 at 5 watts has worked 261 DX entities and at 1 watt 113, all digital, mostly rtty. At one watt in CW DX contests it is possible to come within a few entities of true DXCC in 30 hours, and at 5 watts to go well over 100. Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem
Mikael, If you can, please do a test. See if you can loosen L33 from the rubber bumper just a little by raising the bumper. then slide a strip cut from paper stock (like a business card) between the board and the bumper. See if the BFO still drifts. If it stops, then your assumption is correct and you should get a new rubber bumper. [Elecraft] ant err pr flt error message?? also antenna adjacency problem??
Hello all, we just got back our KX3 after under-warranty repair. The technician included a message that the parts he replaced were usually damaged if 1) Connected to an antenna during a thunderstorm (nope, not here) 2) Power over 100 watts on an adjacent antenna QUESTION 1: The KX3 has been using an inverted V wire antenna. At its closest point to a vertical antenna for our K3 they are about 30 feet apart. Is this too close? How far away would be far enough if K3 operator were using 450 watts?I do recall one morning when I used K3 while Larry had KX3 on. I guess I will never do that again, but I would like to know what distance is safe. We have a neighbor a block away who runs high power. QUESTION 2: I just set the KX3 back up with KXPA100. When Larry transmitted at 5 watts all was OK but when he transmitted at 40 watts it said ANT ERR at the top of the screen and PR FLT at the bottom. I checked the connections. I checked the SWR of the antenna with a SWR meter. What do these messages mean (as they are not described in the manual)? Could these messages have to do with the KXPA100? I checked the SWR of the antenna with a SWR meter. What do these messages mean (as they are not described in the manual)? Could these messages have to do with the KXPA100? Re: [Elecraft] Fake FTDI chips
I use a 2 port PCI serial board in my desktop with a single (prolific) USB to Serial to handle 2 radios and the FSK for RTTY. When i go portable with my laptop i use a Moxa Uport 1410 4 port USB to serial. It has worked fine for me at JOTA and Field day events. I keep it all in a travel case so when i go somewhere i just disconnect my K3 and leave all cables etc. all are replicated in my travel box. It is a seamless (almost) operation. Re: [Elecraft] ANT ERR
Julie, You may hear from Dick Dievendorff on that condition He is the firmware engineer for the KXPA100 and KXAT100. Dick is quite responsive to customer's problems similar to yours. He may even ask for some trace data to help him in attacking this problem. There are situations when doing a TUNE where the KXPA100 can fault as the SWR varies while the tuner is in a tuning cycle. I know Dick has been working on some timing and SWR tolerance algorithms to handle this condition smoothly. However, I don't know the status of the latest changes. I would suggest that you download and install the latest KXPA100 beta firmware to see if that helps. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/15/2014 10:19 AM, jsdroys...@nc.rr.com wrote: OK, I seem to have fixed the trouble but I don't understand it. Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem
Good job of troubleshooting, Mikael. It's really good you found this rather obscure problem. Who would have guessed? Perhaps there was a bad lot of rubber with contaminants that you particular bumper was made from. Mainly you now have the problem identified and can correct it with a new part. Phil w7ox On 4/14/14, 11:15 PM, TheMG . wrote: Wow, you'll never believe what I just found out! 73, Mikael VE8MT __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] Fake FTDI chips
Cookie, There *are* good USB to serial adapters. Buy reputable brands from reputable suppliers and you should not have a problem. If you buy one that does not work, it should be returnable as defective if the dealer is reputable. The Elecraft KUSB uses a genuine FTDI chip, so that one should not be a problem. I suspect the 'bargain counter' no-name brands may be the major ones with the fake chips. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/15/2014 9:11 AM, ke9uw wrote: The only way I know to use a genuine RS-232 port is to use a desk top computer with a plug in board. Re: [Elecraft] Rising current on Tx (K3)
Iain, One of the first things to check is the connections to your power supply. Be certain they are all tight. Why? The K3 attempts to control and maintain the power output using a closed loop system. If the power supply voltage drops at the K3 terminals, the current must increase to maintain the same power level. Normally, that is good, but if the power cable or its connections are not capable of maintaining a good voltage level to the K3, the results will be as you indicated. This is not the only possible cause of increased current draw, but it is the first thing to check. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/15/2014 11:00 AM, Iain G4SGX wrote: Apologies if this is covered before. The K3 is working fine and is such a joy to use, one thing I am planning on doing is wiring up a Kantronics KAM XL tnc to the K3 to try some pactor, I’m a bit confused on this, do I have to go from the KAM XL to the RS232 port and the audio in/out connectors on the K3 or can I just use the RS232 port on the K3. any guidance on this would be gratefully received Regards Graham G7NEH __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] PR6 power plug
Collin and the group; Here's a neat and simple solution that I discovered when I got my PR6: If you need to also power another Elecraft accessory such as a P3 you will need a way to plug the two phono (RCA) plugs into the single phono jack in the back of the K3 (accessory power outlet). Rooting around my big bag of audio connectors I happened across a Radio Shack gold-plated two-into-one RCA adapter plug and---voila!---I realized it would allow me to power both accessories simultaneously. Before I ran across the adapter I realized I had no way to power my new preamp with the P3 already plugged in but now my dilemma was solved. I would check with an pro audio shop for this adapter if there is no Radio Shack outlet in your area as these 2-into1 RCA types are probably not so common elsewhere. Now my K3's stock 12v accessory power jack easily provides enough juice to both P3 and PR6 simultaneously and it saved me from having to use another separate 12v source to run the PR6 in the process. 73, Jeff, NH7RO K3 5528 P3 1397 KPA500 0250Another Elecraft Happy Camper cathrowinternatio...@hotmail.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem, acetone?
Congratulations Mikael. That sounds like a tough one to track down. I have seen the symptoms before. While it is possible the rubber was not fully cured, my bet is chemical contamination. The symptoms are classic for acetone contamination. There is a mistaken belief acetone is a great flux remover. It’s not! While it does remove flux, it can cause latent defects that take years to show up. Let me make it clear I am not accusing you of using acetone. I am letting, others who profess the use of acetone for cleaning, know what they can look forward to. By the way, there are other compounds, such as nail polish remover, that contain acetone. Stick to alcohol and you’ll be alright. 73, Fred, AE6QL -Original Message- From: TheMG . th...@mg3000.net Sent: Apr 14, 2014 11:15 PM To: d...@w3fpr.com Cc: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem Wow, you'll never believe what I just found out! 73, Mikael VE8MT __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

[Elecraft] problems with what I am receiving!
2 problems: 1) why did I suddenly get a message that I have been unsubscribed? I never requested that...tho' I may be about to (see below) 2) for some reason, I suddenly started receiving each entry on the elecraft mailman as individual emails, in my inbox. I own and use a KX-3, a K-1, and a KX-1. Almost all those other messages and discussions are not of much interest for me, all that stuff about the K-3, the amplifiers, the panadapter, the K-2, QRQ. But I am getting every one of them, one by one, as separate emails in my inbox! That is wasting my time, to have to delete so many every day. It is a serious nuisance. My computer is an iMac, up to date OS-X system. And I am using Safari as the browser for this. - I am OK using a computer, but I am not a computer guru, geek or nerd: ie, I need some careful help, to fix what is going on, so I can bet back to receiving only one or two elecraft emails a day, which have a table of contents I can search through WITHIN that one email... Can you PLEASE help me?Thank you and 73, Steve Saslow k7ew __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Re: [Elecraft] K3 and Kantronics TNC
The radio port on the KAM (and most other TNCs) is a DE-9 connector. It's the same D-Shell connector that would be a 9 pin serial port. The 9 pin connector on the KAM is not a serial port. The 25 pin connector goes to your computer, and is a serial port. Typically the cable from the KAM to the radio has either a MIC connector (audio in and PTT) and a speaker connector, or it could go to separate audio and PTT jacks on the back of the K3. I don't have a K3, I have at least one KAM. http://wa8lmf.net/miscinfo/Kantronics_TNC_Radio_Conn.pdf 73 -- Lynn On 4/15/2014 9:38 AM, Jim Brown wrote: On 4/15/2014 8:51 AM, Graham Pemberton G7NEH wrote: I’m a bit confused on this, do I have to go from the KAM XL to the RS232 port and the audio in/out connectors on the K3 or can I just use the RS232 port on the K3. Re: [Elecraft] ant err pr flt error message?? also antenna adjacency problem??
Nr 2Be very careful using 500 watts out on a vertical only 30 feet away to the v antenna of your KX3 as you will blow out the front end on the radio, usually diodes etc. The best thing to do is to disconnect the antenna of the rig not being used. Voltage can come in on your antennas and sometimes it take only a few volts to cause problems. I believe Elecraft use some protection at the front end, but not a lot. Someone else may know more about this. I have been there and do that so know first hand the trouble you can get into. Re: [Elecraft] K3 and Kantronics TNC
Simply put, you need to connect audio out from the Kantronics to Line IN on the K3, Audio IN on the KAM to LINE OUT on the K3, PTT Out on the KAM to PTT IN (RCA or ACC) on the K3 and, if you use it FSK, on the KAM to the FSK IN pin on the K3 ACC jack. There is no RS-232 connection between the two. Your computer will use one serial port to connect to the K3 to control frequency and mode if your logging program supports that. Your computer will use *a second* serial port to connect the KAM with an appropriate *terminal emulator* or digital control program. 73, ... We use a Behringer 802 Mic Mixer at our station. No to help tune the audio (the radio does that fine) but my wife and i are on together often and we do not have to manually switch mics. It took a few mods to do it all, One is the 802 has the 48 volt phantom voltage and we use PC headsets (CM-500) that need much less voltage. I just added a voltage divider to it internally and it works fine. The output of the 802 is higher than needed so i made my cable with a built in PAD, it was 10s of Db but i do not remember just what. It also allows us to have inputs from the soundcard for voice keying in contests as the line is was lower than mic in. we also have a behringer headphone amp (4CH) and both work well. The Mic mixer does alow slight tuning for the differences between our voices but its not wildly adjustable. We do have a unique situation and it worked for us, I assume if we each had Heil prosets it would work as well, but i found mine uncomfortable and sold them. as far as the internal settings, i do not have them in front of me but we tweaked them after setting the 802 buy getting on the air and getting comments from a friend. settings that were better for me were not as good for my wife so it took some compromise. at least i have a wife that says things like why dont we get a K3? and when are we putting up a tower? Re: [Elecraft] k3, heil pr781 mic, behringer 1204usb mixer
Buddy - I almost never operate phone, but as a retired broadcast announcer, I am concerned about audio quality. I set up my K3 with my CM500 with care... and the few phone contacts I have had have resulted in some VERY positive comments on my audio quality... including some who assumed that, as a former broadcaster, I was using thousands of dollars worth of mic, equalization, and processing hardware. Other K3 users believe me when I say it is just the K3 with the equalization carefully set to sound good. It appears from the response you got from Barry, that he uses the mixer primarily to facilitate two mics, and for phantom power. I wonder what deficits you perceive in your transmit audio that make you want to use a very expensive mic and an external mixer. 73 de Dave - K9FN On Tue, Apr 15, 2014 at 1:32 PM, barry whittemore wb1...@hotmail.comwrote: We use a Behringer 802 Mic Mixer at our station. Re: [Elecraft] ant err pr flt error message?? also antenna adjacency problem??
This has been discussed recently so there may be something in the reflector archive. Space loss formula are for far-field situations: Pn = 32.4 + 20Log(F) + 20Log(d), where Pn is in dBm, F in MHz, d in km Antennas as close as you have are in the antenna near-field which has much more complicated math which I am not going to attempt. So the only way to determine what is safe is to measure power coming in on the KX3 antenna when you transmit with the K3 (plus amp) on the other antenna running whatever power you plan to use. I know many hams do not own a lot of sophisticated test equipment so I offer three ways to make the measurement: 1- A simple method would be to connect an ordinary power meter (SWR meter) to the KX3 antenna and connect the other connector to a load (no radio connected). Connect so you read forward power toward the load. I'm going to assume your meter is capable of measuring 10w full scale so a small movement of the indicator would show about 1% (0.1w) indication. That level is 100mw which is about 100 times too strong for the KX3 receiver to survive. In fact maybe the KX3 can handle 10mw but better to be safe by using 1mw as the maximum safe input power limit. 2- One can measure weaker signals if you could obtain use of a HP432 microwave power meter as it measures from -20 to +10 dBm* (but will burn out above this range). Probably you would want the owner of the meter to run the test since they are expensive and delicate. *0.001 to 10mw; attenuators should be used initially like, below. 3- If you have access to some coaxial attenuators you could place them inline with the antenna and your receiver and see what s-meter reading results. I would start with at least 40-dB for safety for your radio (KX3 in your case). if s-meter readings are too low then remove attenuation in 10-dB steps until you see full scale reading of the s-meter. At this point if you still have any attenuation in the line then the power coming into your antenna is too strong for the radio. For reference my KX3 reads S9+50 with a 0 dBm (1mw) signal from my XG3 on 20-MHz (with PRE off). I have a similar situation with 80/40m inverted-V hung on the same tower as my triband yagi with apex about 12 feet below the yagi. I have a 6m yagi at 30-feet below and often monitor 6m while using my K3 on HF bands (that seems to be OK but not running the K3+125w amp to the other 6m yagi 50-feet horizontally distant). QUESTION 1: The KX3 has been using an inverted V wire antenna. Re: [Elecraft] Mic and headphone
Actually, the network termination impedance for two wire phone lines is important, as it is an important parameter in the design of the two to four wire hybrid. http://www1.btwebworld.com/sinet/351v4p5.pdf gives specifications for the UK network, which are somewhat higher than 600 ohms. Note these are the system values at audio frequencies; they are not the characteristic impedance of the line. See http://k9yc.com/TransLines-LowFreq.pdf A telephone line may, indeed, too short to exhibit transmission line properties at audio frequencies, but it will certainly behave as a transmission line when it carries DSL, which has spectrum extending well into the MHz range. And a line several miles long WILL exhibit transmission line properties at high audio frequencies. Thanks for the link to the document showing the termination. Re: [Elecraft] K2 BFO drift problem
I've put a piece of paper under the bumper and re-installed L33 held tightly down against the board (pushing the resistor down so it holds it tightly). No observed drift in frequency after a couple hours other than the normal temperature-related drift (about 10Hz downward). This does seem to confirm that the bumper conductivity was in fact the problem. Looks like I will need a new rubber bumper. I'm not sure what happened to this one to make it conductive, but it's definitely not something I did as I did not use any cleaning chemicals when initially building the K2 (not even alcohol). I'm also considering just securing L33 in place with a dab of electronics-grade silicone and leaving it at that. Although Elecraft does not recommend it I don't see how it would be a problem if the proper type of silicone is used that is non-corrosive, non-conductive, designed specifically for electronics use. If it's good enough for use in aircraft electronics... it ought to be fine for this. Of course, it would make it slightly more difficult to remove L33 in the future if for some reason it was ever necessary to remove it, but not impossible. I'm not too worried about that. 73, Mikael VE8MT On Tue, Apr 15, 2014 at 7:20 AM, Don Wilhelm w3...@embarqmail.com wrote: Mikael, If you can, please do a test. [Elecraft] Band Stacking Registers
Someone posted earlier about wanting band stacking registers in a new K4. Band stacking registers are very nice, but with the KPA 500 you can automatically switch from band to band right now with no problem. Then, with the M1 to M4 per band memory buttons you can select any of four different saved frequencies per band. It takes two button presses to get to the saved freq., AFTER you have made your band selection using the amp. Just press M-V then M1 , M2, M3. or M4 on your chosen band and all your settings will pop up for that frequency. This is really not too bad when you consider with band stacking registers you may have to press more than once to get where you want to go, you may even have to press three times on the band stacker of a particular band to get where need to be. Another advantage using M-V is that with band stacking registers, your frequency setting will be left in a different spot more than likely so it will never be actually saved as far as the exact frequency is concerned. With M1 thru M4 your exact frequency will always be coming up when you push the buttons. So, hope this may help a few who are hooked on band stacking registers as I am. [Elecraft] K3 Archive search - gold plated contacts - K3 #1442 ?
Searching archives - using poor search words I guess. Haven't found it yet and I know there has been considerable traffic on it. I guess I don't know how to search the archives or haven't gone back far enough. When was the traffic about the gold plated contacts? What is a good search word? I think they were between the front panel and the main board. I will be taking the front panel off and reseating it as soon as I get a chance. I think I may be having the contact issue without the gold plated contacts. I am getting random errors on power up mostly and sometimes 7 or 8 of them at one power on. They may or may not repeat and new ones appear. Have probably 10 different ones listed so far, sometimes just 2 or 3 and sometimes a lot. After repeated power cycles (or is it hertz?) it will still come up clean and operate. Sometimes hitting just ant or most any other switch (mode change, sub, pre) will cause the receive to be drastically reduced. If I can leave the buttons alone, it mostly operates. Being a technician in the past, I first suspected power being low. Meter shows 13.8 in the K3 etc. but can't see it until it comes up. Scrubbed all contacts and watch meters on the power buss and no detectable variations during power on from normal. No abnormal readings on the current meter on the power supply. Re: [Elecraft] Fake FTDI chips
Hello Don W3FPR, I need to comment about reputable brands relative to USB-to-serial-adapters. Triplett-Keyspan is not reputable, in my opinion. The story goes like this. I have an AIM-4170 analyzer that needs a RS232 connection. The AIM works when connected to a Dell desktop's RS232 port. For portability, I wanted to use the AIM with my Dell laptop and bought a Keyspan adapter. Regrettably, much time went by before I could get back to the hobby and try the Keyspan but I never suspected a big problem would be lurking. Keyspan's USB-adapter, when plugged into the Dell laptop, would not work my AIM-4170 analyzer. So I tried plugging it into the desktop; still would not work. But incredibly, their technical-support put the blame on my AIM. By this time, it is past the warranty period. I bought a Radio-Shack adapter for the laptop; AIM works fine. To finish the story, I bought a HP-desktop. The Keyspan won't work there. For that HP, I also bought from HP a real RS232-card with two ports. The AIM works fine with those ports. So much for Keyspan's adapter and their tech-support. BTW, my KX3 kit came today. 73 Jerry KM3K __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] Suggestions for a 2 meter amp?
I use a Mirage B-310-G with my K144XV. It is rated at 3W in 100W out, but the power curve on Mirage's website goes up to 8W in with 100W+ out. My K144XV only puts out about 7-8 watts so I have never had any problems with over driving it. The K3 puts out 10 watts so the amp needs to be 10 Watts input Any Suggestions?
