[Elecraft] Odd K3 behavior when P3 used
I am having a strange issue since I installed my P3. If I use one of the P3 Text Message keys to send CW(any memory) and then switch to my paddle (plugged into paddle jack), or even my K1EL keyer (plugged into Key jack) there are 2 glitches when I start sending CW. This occurs every time. Lets say I set my key speed on the K3 set real slow to 8WPM. If I press a key on my USB keyboard to send CW, it sends normally. If I continue to use the keyboard everything is perfect. If I switch to my paddle, and lets say hold the Dah in. I get the 1st Dah with a 1/10th second pause, and then the 1st Dah continues, and then the second dah comes and it does the same thing. Everything after that will be perfect. The same hold true if I'm using my K1EL instead of the paddle. There will always be 2 pauses. The K1EL is setup as a straight key Once those 2 pauses happen, they never happen again, until I switch back to any P3 text message. Also, it does not matter how long I wait after using the P3 memory to switch to my paddle. Re: [Elecraft] A plea for help ...
The ARRL RM-11708 "FAQ" is extremely one sided and full of "spin". For the real details - including ARRL's history of double dealing with regard to Winlink and ARRL's behind the scenes management of the Winlink network, please see SaveCW dot com or Save RTTY dot com. What ARRL's FAQ doesn't say is that RM-11708 only benefits PACTOR 4 and there is no credible "threat" from any other wideband, low symbol rate protocol in spite of the "straw man" in ARRL's own petition. However, ARRL insists on proposing rules that would allow SSB-width data signals that would interfere as many as 15 RTTY signals, 25 CW signals, 45 PSK31 signals or more than 100 JT9 signals (based on the comparative "necessary bandwidth") to operate anywhere in the non-phone portions of the HF bands. 73, ... Sorry to hear about your near hit and the damage Cary Start here. So it doesn't happen again. http://www.smithspower.com/brands/polyphaser You need to protect all incoming wires from your antennas, relay boxes, rotors and any control boxes that are on the tower. You also need to protect your AC lines coming to at least the Ham Shack and better yet the Whole House protection is much better. It doesn't take much to kill the many low voltage devices we all have in our hamshacks and homes today. John k9uwa Polyphaser turn Blitz into Bliss. And no I am not connected with the company. Amateur friend/colleague, This comment has been filed with the FCC in support of ARRL's disastrous and ill-advised rule making petition, RM-11708. http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/document/view;jsessionid=1STjTgyJcfc05SL6R2c9hkP2lTNVFBzHGtPZkys3LGD7tW1xn2nT!1565474435!74404766?id=7521315143 While the comment may seem to be, on its face, laughable, it represents everything that is wrong with RM-11708, the out of control Winlink system and illustrates the need for every serious amateur to express their opposition to both the FCC and to their ARRL director now! Comments to the FCC may be filed at: http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs// - you may upload a document or simply file a short comment. Comments to your director may be sent to him/her at . If you do not know who your director is, they are all listed every month in the front of QST or at the ARRL web site. For further information about RM-11708, to learn the facts, view public comments, hear what RM-11708 will do to our bands, and for more information on filing your own comments, visit: SaveCW dot com or SaveRTTY dot com (they are the same webpage). [Elecraft] [KX1] Field Day just for the fun of it
I used a KX1 on 20m for the RSGB National Field Day (NFD) for the first time. Running 5W to an L dipole at 11ft for the last 3 hours of the contest when the sensible folk were on 40m. I sat in the sunshine at a picnic table. Worked all I could hear which amounted to 64 contacts around Europe. Slow-going from a contest point of view but fun with a minimalist set-up. I can recomend it. 73 David G3UNA operating as G6CP/P __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] [K2] K60XV Low Output at Low Voltage
Thanks, Don. That is pretty much what I am thinking...that there may not be much headroom at U9. Only one of my transverters is an Elecraft one (XV222) so that one should be easy to deal with in the way you suggest. I'll have to see if I have any more gain available in the old Microwave Modules one for 432 MHz, and my homebrew 6 m transverter. 73, Steve VE3SMA On Wednesday, June 18, 2014 11:05:04 AM, Don Wilhelm wrote: Steve, TX Buffer U9 is a rail-to-rail op amp, and the maximum signal output swing will depend on the supply voltage. [Elecraft] [K2] K60XV Low Output at Low Voltage
I noticed this past weekend that my K2's transverter output level was lower than the nominal 1 mW it was set to when operating from the car battery with the ignition off. I confirmed this behaviour today, with about a 12.2 V power supply voltage to the K2. Re: [Elecraft] Field Day tips
I concur with all of the tips except the saying “Don’t waste your time with SSB on FD”. I know this borders on an executable offence by the Morse Inquisition Army, but I don't LIKE CW! I did fine last year on Field Day running strictly SSB with the battery powered KX3 and a couple portable antennas. No, I didn't set any records, but then again, this is not a hugely competitive contest. Maybe that's why it is so named. It's purpose is to exercise your, or your club's ability to set up and operate an emergency radio system. The contest part of the equation is simply to substitute some purpose for the lack of the need for any real emergency communications at that time. Burgers, beer and bugs are all part of the fun. 73, Charlie k3ICH __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
