[Elecraft] KAT500 in Bypass @ Legal limit
Hey guys, I have a need for a while to use an automatic antenna switch on fully resonant antennas. The KAT500 works great with an interface to my flexRadio to change antennas for me at specific bands. If I keep the tuner in full bypass mode, but just use it as an automatic switch, do you forsee any problems driving a legal limit amplifier through its relays? I know the manual states this tuner will handle 1000 watts at < 3:1 SWR, but my use-case is 1500 watts in full bypass at 1.2:1 SWR. The pads increase sound isolation somewhat, and do slightly increase low end (no impact on highs that I’ve observed). For ham radio, go with comfort -- bass response is something we don't need (or want). Music is a different story -- go with comfort AND bass response. Ear pads affect low end (bass) response by improving the air seal between the phones and the head. It's also improved by a headband that clamps the phones more tightly to the head. 73, Jim K9YC __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Re: [Elecraft] Sony MDR-7506 replacement pads?
Thanks. A couple of reviews I saw of third-party pads referred to reduced bass and overemphasized treble. Similar to what you'd get by pulling the headphones away from the ears. 73, Frank K6FOD Well, maybe THAT's why I like these Sony MDR-7506's so much. We prescient few who recognize its obvious importance must sincerely hope that, after K4 launch, perspective will be restored and marketing only the very finest Elecraft-logo ball caps will regain primacy within the company's vision and mission. But yet...either version adequately serves its only real raison d'etre: Hiding... outdoors or indoors...the aging balding chrome-dome that lurks underneath. :-) Mike / KK5F -Original Message- >From: Tommy >Sent: Nov 5, 2020 10:02 AM > >Funny you mention this Chuck, I just received my hat (along with the MH3 >mic for my KX2) and really like the hat. Re: [Elecraft] Newer Elecraft hat not as good as the earlier ones...
Well the newer had just doesn't sit on my head as well as the older one. In a light wind, it tends to take off. I adjusted the band in the back, etc. and the only thing I can come up with is the hat is not as preformed as the old had was. So I thought it must be that the material is thinner or something. Even though they are the same brand and look identical inside, they are made in different countries. So they are different. Re: [Elecraft] Newer Elecraft hat not as good as the earlier ones...
I'm with you. The hat from a few years ago is/was the best fitting and nicest feeling baseball hat I've ever had. A few months ago when there was a special on all things Elecraft I bought 3 more so that I would never run out. When I received them I immediately felt the difference -- not as soft or as comfortable. I also noticed that there was a slight difference in texture of the fabric but the color was almost identical. Oh well, nothing goes on forever (but how about a few years longer).
